Govenor of Illinois was indicted this morning on charges of conspiracy, and soliciting bribes in exchange for President Elect Barack Obama's open Senate seat and other Pay for Play activities. He also allegedly discussed getting campaign funds for himself or possibly a post in the president's cabinet or an ambassadorship once he left the governor's office. He noted becoming a U.S. senator might remake his image for a possible presidential run in 2016, according to the affidavit. And he allegedly said a Senate seat would also provide him with corporate contacts if he needed a job and present an opportunity for his wife to work as a lobbyist.

It took them frickin' long enough. They've been investigating him for what, five years?. Blagojevich was a terrible governor. Replace him with Lisa Madigan or Peter Fitzgerald.

@gcar90: Damn, you beat me to the thread. <img src='/images/emoticons/smiley7.png'>

About time they arrested him, the mobster has been messing everything up. Closing Pontiac Prison which will cost Pontiac 54 million, closing state parks and historical landmarks, refusing to live in Springfield and using taxpayers money to fly back and forth from Chicago on his jet. I hope they put him right next to Ryan.
Now if only we(the people of Illinois) can get a Governor who isn't from Chicago, then we'll be in business.

I'm a Ninja. <img src='/images/emoticons/smiley7.png'>
I have never been a fan of Blagojevich. People are thinking Obama might have been known about the crooked govenor.
IMO, I believe Blago solicited Obama for favors, but Obama didn't take the bait. I believe Obama might have been involved in the whistle blowing, though.

Maybe now they can take down all of the highway signs that say:
Open Road Tolling
COURTESY OF GOV. ROD R. BLAGOJEVICH
Those always struck me as kind of vain.

Strange thing is, I recently had to pay an overdue toll fee from MARCH of 08,
when I wasn't notified of the missed tolls or even aware I had a FEE to pay.
I paid the fee in November.

Replace him with Lisa Madigan
She's the attorney general, right?

My mom is friends with her brother in law.

My mom was like, "Looks like Lisa's gonna be running sooner than we all thought."

Sounds like you Illinois people had to deal with shit from your governor too. Michigan's governor doesn't do bribes but she is an idiot... unfortunately being an idiot doesn't always get you thrown in prison (plus she hasn't really done anything illegal yet).

Govenors. The former Govenor, George Ryan is sitting in an Indiana Prison. He has a SIX year stay and recently petitioned George W. Bush for a pardon after only serving a Year. Ryan was also charged with corruption.

Five of our Governors (including Blagojevich) in the last 80 years were corrupted. Three of them served time in federal prison (Ryan still is). We might as well change our slogan from "Land of Lincoln" to "Our Governors are worst then Bush." Most of the people I've talked to said they felt he was crooked to begin with. But have of course, you pretty much just need to win Chicago to become anything. Which sucks because most Chicago politicians treat the rest of Illinois like an annoying kid brother, and try to ignore us when they can.

LOL
Chicago Politicians are like Seto Kaiba and threat the rest of Illinois like Mokuba.
I say we import a new govenor from Alaska. Do you think Palin would be interested?
If we have to do a special election, for the Senate Seat. I'm going to Write-in "John Doe."

What we need is a Governor from central or southern Illinois, someone who doesn't have any connection to Chicago. We really have problems with Chicago governors. Most, if not all of politicians are like mobsters.

Next govenor election write- in John Doe.
Write-in votes are legal and counted just like all other votes.
John Doe is a name given to an unidentified Male.
If you don't care about any of the candidates, write in John Doe.

So, it's throwing away your vote, in smart-ass way. But what happens if there is a local Chicago politician who has ties with the mob who just happens to be named John Doe?

Couldn't be any worse than the crooks we have already had.
BTW: When will Blago quit? He's been caught with his hand in the cookie jar, step down before you face anymore disgrace.

Blago is about 900,000 dollars in debt from several mortgages, not to mention the 500,000 dollars that he'll likely have to pay in legal fees once he is indicted. He probably ain't gonna quit, cause the second he does, he loses his 177,000 dollar governor's salary, which is about all he has going for him right now.
