Does anyone have any really good anime that's under 40 episodes or so? And don't say Death Note, already watched it. I need to find some good anime to watch, and I don't have the patience to watch anything long.

Under 40 episodes is hardly short. That's like 80% of everything, I'd say short is like 12 episodes or under. 40 - 50 is pretty long and then the over 100s are long haul crazy filler fests most of the time.

If you want to see episodes on Youtube and are in the mood for something very different, type in Mononoke.
It's a horror type anime with different moral questions. I find it to be great with it's story, main character, and tradition artwork. But I realise it's not for everyone. It's also 12 episodes long.
Apparently, it's a spin-off from the last Ayakashi Samurai Horror Tales dvd called Bake-neko.

One that hasent been mentioned and was one of the greatest anime ive ever laid eyes on

Filled with action. Basically a story about inlanders and outlanders. The inlanders have lives of luxary while the outlanders live in poverty. The outlanders live in an area where (I forget exactly what hit it) a meteror or soemthing like that hit. Thus giving a select few the power to make matter into weapons. Things like super computers and fighting robots and the main character has an arm that changes into a super arm thingy lolz.
My explaniation isent all that good but I deff recomend you give it a watch.
About 25-26 episodes in all.

And I would second angelic layer. It was intresting to watch the fights and story unfold.

And code Geass is GREAT for anyone who loved deathnote. The plot line is just OMW. but it has like 52 episodes. I almost guareente though for code geass youll be clinging to your seat every episode.

Heh... Only a couple people said Cowboy Bebop... I recommend Cowboy Bebop to everyone, even non anime fans. It is that good. So here is my list.

The fact that nobody has yet brought up Samurai Champloo, any of the Gundam serieses/OVAs/movies, or Card Captor Sakura absolutely worries me.
I second the people who say Furi Kuri, Trigun (even if the anime is inferior), Cowboy Bebop, Geass, Haruhi, and all that good stuff.

Elfen Lied goes for 13 episodes and is the greatest thing I've ever seen in my life.
Only watch it if you can handle plentiful amounts of blood and nudity, though the main reason I love it so much is how well it's presented and how beautiful, powerful and touching the storyline is. The last episode made me cry.

I don't think anyone has mentioned Tactics (my fave series). It's only 25 Episodes long. It has one (or two) 'scenes'. I saw it on SciFi, and the dub wasn't all that bad.

Mahoromatic its about 23 episodes although there is more to it in the manga

There's Axis Powers Hetalia which about 26 episodes for the first series. But the episodes themselves are only five minutes and about the equivilant of about 6 normal length episodes.
A take on history by anthropomorphised (I think that's the right term) countries going through WW1 briefly, then WW2. It's funny and sweet but not fully complete.

Moyashimon (a very cute and homely anime about a college boy who can see germs, only they are adorable.)
Gravitation (I'm really surprised I haven't seen this on the list yet, it's shonen ai, but It's got a good plot.)
Shinesman (okay there is no way you can not watch this. 2 episodes, and lulzy. I recommend the dub.)
Desert punk (if you are into extraordinarily crude humor this is for you, YOU MUST WATCH THE DUB the sub isn't good. (I know I just said that))

Kino's Journey is technically 13 episodes long (if you don't include the 2 movies).

It's a great anime. Kind of hard for some people to understand. It's an aquired taste but it is worth checking out. It deserves WAY more popularity.

New Getter Robo:

Watched episodes 1-8 in sub. It was awesome. Then episode 9. The site I was watching on suddenly confuses New Getter Robo with Shin Getter Robo Armageddon. It was like everyone was a solid choice for VA... except Ryoma.

two morals to watching the dub.
1: Lex Lang shouldn't be allowed to voice super robot heroes. I honestly believe a retired professional athlete could have done a better job. (super robot pilots tend to be a lot like athletes who are fired up for a game.)
2: Even if every other voice actor is a solid choice, a terrible choice for the main character can ruin an entire production.

Well Short Animes is about 12 to 13 Epsiodes and Regular Sized Animes Are 25 to 26 Episodes.

For Length of epsiode wise 21 mintues is about regular while 10 or less minutes is short

Oreimo is a pretty good anime. Although it has 2 seasons, but so far it's only about maybe 20 something long. I think the 2nd season is still airing now.

There's also Hetalia! It has alot of episodes, but it being a web series in Japan, each episode is only 5 or some minutes long. I love the dub of that series because the characters of differnet countries all the characters have different accents.

It's a really good, rather short, one season anime. Watch it, even just for the fact that the opening and closing sequences are very different from the "typical" anime OP

There's also another funny anime I watched, it's called Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt, although I would only really recommend it if you are 17, 18+, and/or can take gross jokes, swears etc. I swear I love this show, but it's totally (EFF)ed up. Basically there these 2 angel sisters, a blondie named Panty, and a loli-goth named Stocking. They were kicked out of heaven for bad behavior, and they stay on earth with a priest named Garterbelt (who if u ask me, he looks kinda like Black Dynamite). They have to fight these monsters called Ghosts and earn Heaven Coins to buy their way back into heaven. Oh yeah, they can also turn their panties and socks into guns and swords. Yeah like I said, pretty (EFF)ed up.

Fruits Basket is another good series. It's sweet, and funny, me and my Sis love it. The anime has about 26 episodes and its rated PG.
