View Full Version : 1/2 Ouji (1/2 Prince)
My (new) current manga obsession. It's about a pissed off girl who signs up for an mmorpg as a boy (against the rules, in general, but allowed for her due to the reasons she has for doing so), and ends up befriending the GM who allowed her to join. They go around and form a party and get beaten up and kill monsters and deal with noobs and.... deal with hoards of fangirls who think that the main character is hot and want his(her) body. It's funny, so true to mmorpg life (anyone who has played one will instantly start laughing at some of the situations), the artwork is decent and it tells the story well. It's no Deathnote, but it's way better than popular action manga (insert title here) chapter #254.
It's hard to come by chapters, since only 8 are translated into english (thankfully, a new team just picked it up! *crosses fingers that they'll do more than a couple of chapters*).

Thanks for sharing this. Having played a few MMO's in my day, I love these types of stories. Sort of reminds me of the .hack series.
Oh my gosh, I LOVED .hack. Especially the first anime that came out.
I played the games themselves some but to be honest, they sucked. The mechanics were awful.
But at the same time, the story plot was everywhere and so deep into the game/anime that the two became the same thing after a while.

I liked the first .hack the most, but the one with the Twilight bracelet was pretty good too. I never played the games. I was planning on it, but from what you said I might want to skip them.

Although I'm not sure how typesetting would work on paint.

Ok, so as many of you may, or may not know, 1/2 prince is based off of a completed short novel in Chinese. Recently, a group has undertaken translating the novel into English because, well, it's good, and there won't be any new manga until August. The leader of the group became worried about copyright issues so she asked permission of the author (yes... THE AUTHOR... the pending doom of "Oh no..." was felt far and wide) to translate the novel and host it on her website.
THE AUTHOR SAID YES.
Seriously.
This is the most awesome thing ever. Or rather, SHE (the author) is the most awesome person ever.
Anyway, for people who want their fix of the 1/2 prince story, here's the website. http://halfprince.wordpress.com/ I think they do about 2 chapters a week.
