We enter and then we decide who has the best avatar. Now it can be a round robin where we end up with 2 finalists or it can be a league format where you compare your avatar to every entrant

You should have it tournament style. 16 entries should be enough for the first time.
You will start with 16, then randomly pair up the entries. The one with the lowest vote in each pair is eliminated and you are left with 8. Then 4, then 2, then 1.

People who aren't in the current round should vote also, that way when you get to the final round, it isn't just the finalists who will be voting.
