Well I've seen the first to subbed legally at funimation's site which in and of it self is really cool. Sort of bumbed we have to watch stuff the other anime already did.

I've watched the first 4 eps of Brotherhood then went to check out the first one that came out. I definately thinke Brotherhood is better. It's less childish and a lot darker.

Question:
Is this a continuation based off the manga, or is this a completely new story?

it's actually a whole redo of the manga and not a continuation of the series. i haven't read the mando but i'm tolde brotherhood keeps to it better than the original series release.

It's not as good as the first anime nor the manga since they try to make as much out of one episod as possible wisch original was like 3 eps in the anime, and i mean the first chapter.
I were a little dissapointed that they took away the chapter with the miners, but then again that wasn't in the manga either if I remember wirght...or wasit since the comander from there was an ally in the later chapters.

The mining chapters were in the manga, and yes, the previous owner of the mines does become their ally later on.
