View Full Version : DSD's Trivia :: SEASON 4!!

DarkSunDuelist
05-10-2010, 11:28 AM
Now that I have finally cleared some of the clutter from my schedule, DarkSunDuelist's infamous Trivia Game returns from the depths of Hades!!

The rules of the game are simple. I ask a question, and people attempt to answer it! The number of incorrect answers allowed depends on how many different people attempted to answer the last question (so, if 4 people attempted Question 2, then 8 incorrect answers will be allowed before the question is dropped). If the question is dropped, I give the answer and the points for that question are added to my total.

After answering the question, the player chooses a topic for the next question. It doesn't matter how many get it right; the first person to post the correct answer gets their topic chosen.

Point values for each question are based on how difficult it was for me to find the answer, and how common I think the knowledge is (if I already knew it, it'll usually be a low score. If I had to spend an hour looking up the answer, it'll probably be a high score). Kindly don't post over-specific topics, like "The Three Stooges" or "The Atomic Mass of Carbon". Try instead for things like "Monochrome Comedies" or "Properties of Chemical Elements".

i know he already said the answer, but still...

soylent green is a wafer that is made by soylent from the corpses of people with various causes of death, including murder, which is how Thorn and Roth were able to find out after the wealthy mr. simonson was murdered.

i'm kind of a fan of Heston films...

DarkSunDuelist

Yes, multiple people can answer, and it's often wise to answer even if you think somebody else has already given the answer, for 2 reasons (A: The number of incorrect answers allowed for the next question is determined by the number of different people that attempted the last question. And B: As is evidenced by this question, the answer you THINK is right might not BE right. ).

In any case, gwtyler1985 had the most accurate answer (and technically the only "correct" one since I specifically stated that the obvious answer WASN'T the entire correct answer >.> ). (gwtyler1985 + 30 pts)

Question #4: In the "Kingdom Hearts" series, name the member(s) of Organization XIII that can use Blizzard-Type magic. (130 pts)

LordZorc
05-11-2010, 04:03 AM
Vexen is the one that specializes in it.

But if we're also talking 358/2 days, Roxas and Xion can use it too. (They're not nearly as powerful with it as Vexen, but they can use it.)

Topic: Anime

gwtyler1985
05-11-2010, 04:08 AM
depends on the game

if you mean just in KH2, then obivously vexen and roxas, with a possibility of xemnas and zexion.

if you mean from the whole series, then everybody (or who are xemnas, xigbar, xaldin, vexen, lexeaus, zexion, saix, axel, demyx, luxord, marluxia, larxene, roxas, and (but probably doesn't count) xion). (stupid panel system).

it's also possible that the former member(s) (as there are only six of the seven apprentices still in the organization) could use blizzard magic, but we won't know until they tell us.

i'll take shows by matt groening for however much you'll give me, alex.

Question #5: In one episode of "Futurama", Bender is attached with a bomb that will go off when he says his most-said word. A list of his top-10 used words is given. Besides "Bite", "my", "Shiny", "Metal", and "Ass", name at least 1 of the other words on the list. (Multiple answers allowed, 50 pts Per correct answer)

gwtyler1985
05-11-2010, 10:08 AM
shoot, i got that partly wrong... in KH2, it's only xemnas when he's in that armor mode. because vexen is dead and roxas isn't part of organization XIII. hoever, Vexen does use blizzard based magic in KH:COM. zexion did not use any clearly defined blizzard attacks in COM, so he does not count either.

Question #10: According to Greek Mythology, what was in Pandora's box? (500 pts)

GcarOatmealRaisinCookies
05-19-2010, 08:38 AM
Pandora's box is a box entrusted to Pandora to keep safe, where if it opens all the world's hope escapes.

The Three Stooges

gwtyler1985
05-19-2010, 09:49 AM
Pandora's box, which Zeus entrusted to Pandora, whom Zeus entrusted to Prometheus' brother Epimetheus, contained all of the evils that plague mankind to this day. Zeus gave this box to Pandora along with a sense of curiosity because he knew that she would then open the box. this was to be mankind's punishment for when they accepted the god's stolen fire from Prometheus. In some versions of the legend, it says that the only thing left in the box is hope, the last thing humanity has left. in others the box contains despair, never to be let loose upon the world.

DarkSunDuelist
05-22-2010, 07:25 PM
Insane uninentionally caught the Trick Question. According to Greek Mythology, it was a jar, not a box. The misconception of "box", I believe, came from a mistranslation, which has been to this day generally accepted, and now, for the most part, the two terms are mostly interchangable. It should also be noted that I think for a CONSIDERABLE amount of time about the questions I post, and they're not to be taken lightly. (Insane + 500 pts)

leafeon (grass, leveled up next to that one rock in the woods, 4th gen)

Also, as far as I'm concerned (This has nothing to do with the question), 95% of the pokemon post-Gen II were crap. Exceptions are Lucario, anything involving Ralts, and a few other Gen IV pokemon.

if you count ReCOM, i think it's 6. otherwise, 5

COM: 1
ReCOM: 1
II: 3
358/2: 1

or if you don't count that time at the tournament in 2, then 5 or 4 (depending on the last answer).

or if you really mean KILL kill, you never do. his fate is rather vague, and even if he did die, it was the nobodies that did it.

Actually, it didn't count at all, since gwtyler1985 was right and the player never actually kills Axel himself. there's the original roll from , who was built as Dr. Light's maid.

i don't think that there was one in X, Zero, ZX, or Advent (since they're all the same thing), and there's definitely not one in the newest incarnation.

the only other games i can think of are the spin offs, like megaman soccer, megaman B&C, and powered up remakes and clash of the wily bots games where you can play as axel, bass/forte and that guy with the hand (i forget his name...). but then again, for every one of these games, they all have the same roll i just mentioned.

but yes, she's also in the show. she looks quite different, though...

I don't think there was one in MM-X or MM-Zero either, and in Star Force she got replaced with Harp Note, who is pretty much a combo between Roll, BN's Protoman, and a Guitar (How does one spam Sword Moves with a Guitar? I haven't the slightest).

meh, I wouldn't make questions for a single game that just came out less than a couple years ago unless it was part of an existing series. That's too narrow. Also, I will never make questions about anything with M Night Shaderpaderp. He lost any respect I had for him when he botched "The Last Airbender".

Question #15: In "Order of the Phoenix", Hermionie uses a spell on a door in the Department of Mysteries. Name the spell and what it does. (230 pts)

Ninjasplaycardgames2

Colloportus, which magically closes a door so it cannot be opened by normal means

Flagrate: i'm not sure what the standard effect for the spell is since they are all used in a wide variety of situations, but it placed a large, magically flaming "X" on the door between the room with the brains and the revolving room that didn't burn the door, but stuck to it while the rest of the room was spinning.

and there were a few doors in the department of mysteries with spells used on them, so it counts.

Yeah, I was looking for Flagrate, but I forgot that they also used Colloportus, so I'll give credit for both of those. (gwtyler1985 and ninjasplaycardgames2 + 230 pts)

Ummm...I'm pretty sure I JUST said that I'm not going to do a question with Bayonetta as the topic. It's too narrow. First post gets topic.

I don't know much about Call of Duty...but I'll try to come up with a question...

gwtyler1985

Actually, you could do a war question for that. For example, a war history question or a weapons question.

Question #16: Name every Call of Duty game, including those currently in production. Ones that have not been publicly announced obviously do not count. (70 pts, The right to beat ninjasplaycardgames2 over the head once with a stick.)

Call of Duty, Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 3, Call of Duty: World at War, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops

Do remakes count?

gwtyler1985
07-25-2010, 08:50 PM
at the moment, i don't care about answering this question. so i'm just going to let ninja have it on the condition that all of those games have come out. if one hasn't, then i still won't take the points, but i will be glad to beat ninja over the head with a stick and choose the next category.

Call of Duty, Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 3, Call of Duty: World at War, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops

Do remakes count?

I believe I said remakes did NOT count unless they added a significant amount of stuff. Just adding a level for more shooting, or adding a multiplayer mode, or making a few more characters to choose from: These are all things that do NOT make a Remake qualify as a separate game. To count it has to add at LEAST 3 hours of gameplay and/or story.

For instance, "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition" would qualify as a separate game compared to the original TFU, because it adds a significant amount of story and gameplay to change the player's perspective on the main game's events.

As for your answers, I shall check them shortly. Until then, enjoy my foot-tall Wall-O-Text.

Question #17: Define "Super AIDS". (30 pts)

gwtyler1985
04-14-2011, 01:53 PM
"Super Aids" is the example that Mr. Stotch gives his young son Butters of what he should be afraid of instead of the ghost of Eric Cartman. Apparently, one teaspoon of Super Aids in your butt and you're dead.

Could also refer to a new strain of the HIV/AIDS virus that's less resistant to treatment. However, I'm fairly certain you wanted the other thing.

And now I"m going for the fourth Doctor, just because the younger viewers have less chance of getting it.

gwtyler1985 has won this season with 1095 pts!

But fear not, because there's now a Season 5 (http://forum.yugiohtheabridgedseries.com/showthread.php?t=8495)! The rules have changed slightly and it's been geared to be checked on a very regular basis, so it shan't wither like the last few seasons have.

Happy Quizzing!

You're kinda in the wrong thread. You want the Season 5 thread I just linked.

This is the old thread.
