I peroused the threads and couldent find one. Im in utter shock at this. an anime/manga thats not as mainstream as it once was and the original show was cancled early. But after picking up with the manga this series is just amazing to me. It reads uniquely with how elements of the story (the gantz ball and how the weapons work).
Though I will admit it does exhibit those usual characters seen in all animes!
Great anime in my mind though!!!!!!!

Haven't seen the anime, and after reading up to chapter 158 in a week, I am HOOKED. It may be kinda senselessly brutal at first, but it gets extremely badass around volume 10 when the Blue Phase starts.

I'm reading the manga, so how can that be filler?

Dear god I hate this show. I've never read the manga and I never want to. This series defines senseless violence. I don't care if a show is violent, but there needs to be a point to it. Characters are introduced only to be killed off minutes later. The main character is an unlikeable douche and his friend is such a boyscout that all his scenes involve him being a whiny little bitch and refusing to kill things. The female lead is such a helpless damsel in distress stereotype that she might as well be replaced with a giant set of boobs. The plot goes nowhere and as a big fuck you to the audience, EVERYONE DIES IN THE END. And just in case this show was too classy for you, they throw in a softcore porn scene.

This show is garbage and I can't image how the manga could be any better without completely rewriting the series.

I'm not gonna lie to you. The first 9-10 (Red Phase) volumes is pretty much the same.
But after the Buddha mission, The Blue Phase starts, and things get MUCH better. Kurono gets a girlfriend and a purpose and becomes the leader (and people actually WANT to follow him) and we get a more stable team of protagonists (half-psychic people!) and antagonists (VAMPIRES for some reason, and they know the Gantz member!)

How far have you read? Screw it, you might be able to start reading at the Blue Phase no problem.

lol u pretty much just ranted on about a not even close to finished anime. ^_^ good stuff. The gantz anime was a complete flop and the manga took a break for an extremely long time which ended u having the anime catch up to it........which always ends i failure. I actually like the fact that characters die easily in this series. the characters serve their purposes well. And if you read the manga youd understand that ^_^

I've caught up to the newest chapter I could find in english (324) and FUUUUCK they just keep ramping up the level of hopelessness. Someone is gonna have to clone A LOT of Kurono somehow before there's any "chance" again

Haven't read the manga, though from what I've heard it's much better than the anime. I thought the anime was silly, though also highly entertaining in some parts. :tongue:
