don't blame him, the entire media is incompetent

lol so I just noticed that you posted that on my wall. Interesting stuff. I blame Stephen Colbert for misinforming me. :V

and that theory is the inspiration behind Beyond Birthday's Kira-aligned power in AFG's rules, only changed to be for his murdering instead of a death note thing
-
yeah, i know what you mean, but i think the way it worked in the anime is that when you used a death note, you either became a shinigami after you died or you would if you killed enough (it's the way we did it in the RP i was in a few years ago)
-
Yeah, it was an idea that I literally just had right off the bat. I would have to think about it more. I know that reincarnation isn't likely either as in the canon of the anime he tells certain people that he is Kira before he kills them, and if they reincarnated, well, he'd be screwed, lol. It just frustrates people when they keep dying at the beginning round after round and they don't get to do anything you know?
I do agree that sometimes you do need "role-less" players. In fact they can be the foundation of a game because they work well with in large numbers. But people like being individuals~
-
well if you read the manga, you see that there's no afterlife at all, so ghosts in general don't fit (the rules HS and i worked on there followed anime canon, which implied Light's reincarnation as a shinigami), but i dunno about reincarnation either....honestly, i was never a fan of role-less players (townies in DN, Jurors in CP [my own original game]), but sometimes you need to have them, just in case you get more people signed up than there are roles
-
Wait a minute... what if there were a set of roles that could only be used by people who had died? What if dead people can "reincarnate" into one of those specific roles? Kira and L still would know that that particular dead person is not Kira or L, but the person who was killed would still be able to participate without being a "ghost." Hmmmm...

I think what I'll do is copy-paste the rules to a document, and copy-paste the rules that darkarcher posted on the first revival, except replacing the debt collector with the impersonator. I think that it would be good if we had a game that would work well with fewer people but also allow for more people to join. Large games can be a lot of fun too.
I also like having "townies" in the game, the problem is that people don't like being townies and they feel useless. So giving townies some kind of power might make the game more fun and interesting for everyone.
The thing about ghosts is that they are not part of the anime at all. It doesn't make sense for them to even exist in a Death Note game. But, dead people need to feel like they can still participate, otherwise they aren't going to have a whole lot of fun. I wonder if there is a way to reconcile the two issues.

Those rules actually make a lot of sense. They're actually the kind of rewrite that the other game needed. Not that "we need more roles and the GM gets to choose them" kind of thing.
Seriously. Why did we listen to Overmind? lol
