Cool, I only recently saw part 2, and the villains are basically the vampires, minus any vamp-ness.

Off the top of my head, it's like this movie really takes place near the end of the Blue and start of the Black Phase with the vamps, one guy trying to find out what Gantz is, and the hunts becoming visible while taking a deviation in attempt to wrap up the story, but in my opinion, failing to give an overall satisfying conclusion.

Hey, at least they'd tried, where as the manga, to me, has gone on way too long with this invasion, and Blue Phase is Best Phase, so I'm glad there were elements of it involved.

Again, I still say it's worth a look.

Oh, haven't seen the 2nd movie yet. Haven't found it anywhere but I haven't checked for about a month. It looks like the vampires are in it but the story synopsis seems to say otherwise. :/

Well Kurono isn't asshole-ish enough, gore and nudity levels are nowhere near as Mature-rated as the manga, best parts of the latter missions are cut out(bird alien fight only has ONE alien for example and the Temple hunt boss only uses swords) some memorable characters are omitted (like Sakuroka, the girl Kei fucked before the temple mission) yet Tae is introduced early and rewritten as well as the coveted role of "that old guy" but he doesn't do ANYTHING. Basically, too much of what makes Gantz the dark series we know and love is missing, but it's still LIVE-ACTION, so I gotta say check it out.
