Will a RAM upgrade make any difference to Photoshop's performance?

My system specs:

HP G62 series notebook (can't remember which one now)
Intel Core i3 330M 2.13GHz processor
2GB DDR3 RAM
Integrated Intel HD Graphics
320GB HDD
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OS

The problem:

Whenever I am running Adobe Camera Raw in Photoshop CS5 Extended with a lot of photos for an extended period of time, plus Mozilla Firefox 6 (also for an extended period) the laptop slows down horribly, and it takes ages for Photoshop to save my files and run the levels command.

I want to know whether an upgrade to 8GB DDR3 RAM will solve this problem, or whether it's a problem with the processor or graphics card.

[ I know already that my integrated graphics card is nowhere near good enough to run the 3D rendering features in Photoshop CS5 Extended, so that's not what's at issue here. The damn thing tells me so when I attempt it. ]

Advice please, forum

It's ben years since I've taken an IT class, and I was never any good at it in the first place, but if the problem is caused by having too many of something open, I'd say an increase in RAM would help. That is to say, it would take more photos or whatrever to slow it down.

Thanks man, I've just purchased 8GB of DDR3 RAM for it now...

So yeah, case closed.

Much of this discussion happened in the BAR, though.

The thread was pretty much redundant. LOCK'D
