I like subtitles, they make me feel like I'm reading...when I'm really watching a movie!

leonhart321 11-23-2008 06:04 PM

So basically, as you put it, The Blair Witch Project meets Cloverfield with a dash of Resident Evil and about 2 gallons of bleakness.

Where did you watch something like this? Seriously, i recently went to the cinema to watch Quantum of Solace (grossly underpraised by the press but i'm getting tangental here) and they didn't have this showing or previewing. Also i agree with you savegly with the subtitles, for THAT is why Pans' Labrynith was virtually unheard of in America.

However, it does pique my interest in the film as if Blair Witch and Cloverfield can pull off handycam-o-horror well, maybe this can. Especially as we need a decent horror film release soon (RE: Extiction make me baulk at its' unappealingness) Also, don't diss the Burton/Depp combo, those were the films that got Depp POTC and Burton a catapult into Hollywood directory in films such as Big Fish and Mars Attacks (avoiding the trap of quoting ones that have starred Depp here) that have got him Oscar nominations (Yes he did get more in the Depp films but shut up, i'm making a point here)

However getting back to the root of the matter, will I be watching this film based on this review. Not at the cinema but i would get a 1-disc copy of the DVD. This way i can watch it for the good old fashioned gore or be glad i didn't waste too much money buying it.

Final point : LK, I like the fact that you have done this seriously (albeit in your own inmitable style) and i hope to be able to read more in the near future of a similar nature (How much would i have to bribe you to consider seeing High School Musical 3 for the lulz you would provide us ^^).

What would happen if Bakura reviewed Yu-Gi-Oh The Movie?

leonhart321 11-23-2008 06:10 PM

Logic Paradox, Universe would implode......and it would be awesome!

TitanAura 11-23-2008 07:32 PM

And afterwards Bakura would complain about not being in the movie.

YoshiYoko 11-23-2008 07:34 PM

Subtitled Movies count as Summer Reading.

BabyBlaire 11-23-2008 07:45 PM

I couldn't agree with you more, Kuriboh-Kun, America would just fall apart if anyone ever had the nerve to make a movie where the viewers actually had to read while they watched; the reason it's so hard to find anything good in the foreign film section at Blockbuster. (Personally I enjoy subtitles, as long as they're not so big that they take up half the screen).

I also agree with the other commenter's, Yami no Bakura-Kun should review both High School Musical 3 (/gags/) and the Yu-Gi-Oh Movie (Which completely glossed over the existence of both Ryou-Kun and Yami no Bakura-Kun! A crime!) I think we would all enjoy it very much.

EdBat 11-23-2008 07:51 PM

Good job, as always.

Lerena 11-23-2008 08:03 PM

How about I don't watch [Rec] because I already know it flipping sucks? A name like that means it sucks. And for that matter, I don't watch anything in Spanish. I'll stick to reading subtitles for Japanese anime, because that's just how I am. Thank you for the review and making it worth while to read all that, because apparently I did. =|

Atticus 11-23-2008 08:05 PM

I still don't understand the subtle satire that was expressed in The Blair Witch Project... a couple of teenagers or kids getting lost in the nature? When doesn't that happen? The idea has been far overplayed since Lord of the Flies. But what can a person expect from something that started in Britain? It's a pyramid effect in that the first is the best and it just builds down to crap.

As for this movie, I think you'd give a couple old and ancient movie critics a run for their money since you have no standards or practices to worry about. Good job.

Oh, and don't review any High School Musical movie. There are better ways to kill yourself mentally, physically, or literally.

TSstudios 11-23-2008 08:30 PM

you seriously think Im gonna read all of that?

BabyBlaire 11-23-2008 08:40 PM

If you're not willing to read the review, why comment on it?

YG117 11-23-2008 08:50 PM

and then part three can be named [fail]
jk

I think bakura should review Twilight

BabyBlaire 11-23-2008 08:53 PM

That's actually a pretty good idea, YG117. I say if LittleKuriboh ever looks at the comments he should ask Bakura to review Twilight! We all know he's a vampire, he might be interested.

ShadowElliot 11-23-2008 09:15 PM

Time would destroy itself.

Cocyta 11-23-2008 10:02 PM

Bakura isn't a vampire, he's either the ghost of an Ancient Egyptian or a demonic spirit (depending on whether you believe Yami Bakura is the same as Thief King Bakura, or if you think he's actually Zorc, with Ryou Bakura being the reincarnation of the Thief King).

At any rate, even though I've seen this done before in fanfics, I'd love to see LittleKuriboh's take on this:
Yami Bakura reviewing the Mummy movies... and maybe he could throw in The Scorpion King as well, since I thought it was pretty cool, and would like to see if Yami Bakura agrees with me.

I'd also like to see Yami Bakura review any movie that has anti-establishment elements in it, such as Tank Girl.
That would rock.

BabyBlaire 11-23-2008 10:06 PM

Come on, can't you take a joke? -_- Being a Yami no Bakura fangirl I think I know that he's not a vampire, and that he's half an ancient Egyptian spirit and half Zorc the Lord of Darkness. (It claims both ways are true in the manga, so that's the way I'll have it too.)

You've read fanfiction that has Yami Bakura reviewing the Mummy and The Scorpion King? Wow, I don't think I've ever bothered to look such fanfiction up. /sweatdrop/

l3o2828 11-23-2008 10:15 PM

i dunno whats lamer the fact that i read all that or that movies >:/
Don~!

Panthersgba 11-23-2008 10:19 PM

I think that Machete to the Groin should review each new episode of the abridged series, it would be like a voice over where he complains about no screen time, and the Weevil and Rex will shot him with a luggy gun. Perfect plot lol jk

Cocyta 11-23-2008 10:19 PM

Well, it's hard to tell sometimes when someone is joking on a forum, and I've seen too many works by Yu-Gi-Oh! fans where he is depicted as a vampire. Yeesh, you just happen to enjoy the taste of blood and people assume that you're either a vampire or are pretending to be one. ^-^;

BabyBlaire 11-23-2008 10:23 PM

He kind of does look like a vampire you know, and theres nothing wrong with a good Bakura vampire fanfiction. Lol, as long as you can do it right that is. I happen to be one of those good, experianced fanfiction writers who actually use a plot and don't bother with Mary Sue OC's (Is 3 years long enough?)

Cocyta 11-23-2008 10:32 PM

Three years is long enough if you're a good writer, and too long if you're a bad writer.

BabyBlaire 11-23-2008 10:49 PM

I couldn't agree more. XDDD I know some people who insist on writing crappy fanfiction on the Internet than cry and ask why they never get any reviews. I once read an Inu-Yasha fanfiction that was so bad, it was funny! There were some parts though, that made me want to rip my hair out and smash my PC to bits, but I managed to hold back.

TitanAura 11-23-2008 11:04 PM

NO MORE TALK OF YAOI! UR MAKING MY EYES BLEED. D=8

BabyBlaire 11-23-2008 11:06 PM

Who was talking about yaoi? We were talking about fanfiction, there is a difference. As for yaoi, though, it really is an amazing thing. /smirks/ just look at my avatar if you want my veiws on it. /laughs/

TitanAura 11-23-2008 11:10 PM

MUST. KILL. FANGIRLS. *stabs BabyBlaire with nearby spork*

Cocyta 11-23-2008 11:11 PM

With that in mind, here's a link to my fanfics.
Please tell me if you think they are atrocious.

Seraphim 11-23-2008 11:13 PM

By definition, fanfics are atrocious.
Edit: I forgot about this, but 30 G€T!!
