Vista to Win 7

My computer currently runs on Vista.
I HATE Vista so much and it's incompatibility with everything, but am too cheap to buy a new computer with windows 7.

I am tempted to download Win 7 and replace the Vista Operating system.
my question, will I fuck up my computer too much if I remove the Vista Operating system and replace it with Win 7? The computer originally came with Vista.

I did the same thing with one of my computers. Depending on your situation, you may have some programs that aren't compatible with windows 7, but I didn't have an issue.

Well, depending on how good or bad Windows 8 turns out to be, it might be worth sticking it out until that comes out and downloading it then >_>

Of course, if it turns out to be crap, just download Windows 7

Windows XP was the last greatest OS from Microsoft.
I'd download that, but anything originally operating on Vista refuses to work right with XP.

Well, derp, Vista SP2 is almost exactly the same like 7. If you still have Vista disc or at least have it on the drive on your computer, try optimizing it. Use tools like vLite to remove crap you don't need from Vista and if you don't want to do that, use stuff like Win Vista Manager and try disabling unnecessary features in Programs and Features in CP.

7 isn't going to work much better than Vista. Sure, a fresh install will work, but in a long run, you're going to have the same results.

If you wanna keep all the data and upgrade to 7, fine, but don't say I didn't warn you.
