True it's no surprise whatsoever, not even the fact that [ Isshin was captain of squad ten with Matsumoto as his lieutenant and Hitsugaya as his third seat, hell the way he treated Hitsugaya wasn't even surprising. Matsumoto having to pull a Nanao on Isshin was hilarious though. ]

i think Kubo's dead at this point and a bunch of fanfic writers took over because people guessed that centuries ago albeit with a weak reason
[ seriously? just because they have the same hairstyle, this means Ichigo and Kaien are related? it wouldn't be so bad if they weren't.... ]

So am I the only one enjoying the way Isshin's character is being handled in the flashback arc? Cause someone on DeviantART seems to be of the mind that Isshin's recklessness is a bad things and RUINS HIS CHARACTER FOREVER!

Exactly, plus he's a Shiba, & Shiba male's are...kinda incredibly reckless.
Also Shinigami have a habit of making stupid choices because of pride/honor. At least Isshin seems to have grown out of the recklessness at least.

He's been reckless throughout the whole entire series. Kicking Ichigo all the time and leaving the girls home alone. Letting Ichigo handle all those battles by himself even though he could have "trained" Ichigo" way earlier.
