The Bartimaeus trilogy was awesome!!!
But my favorite book of all time is The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. It's a fantasy novel, but even if you're not into fantasy it's totally awesome. It's very deep.

I liked that one too, not as much as The Stand though. Classic right there. Another good Stephen King book is Dreamcatcher.

The only Stephen King book I've read is Christine... mostly because I get scared very easily and tend to have nightmares.

I really liked The Crucible. You all probably read it. I really enjoyed that play, and after learning how Miller fiddled with the historic characters, I think it makes it even more interesting. I also liked Night, by Wiesel. That one was a tear-jerker.
Only Stephen King book I've read is It. I like it enough to read it over again. Although, I'd skip near the end, towards when they are in the sewers. The whole scene turned me off.

If your in the mood for fantasy I highly suggest the Tithe, Valiant, and Ironside series by Holly Black.
Set in modern day it provides realistic cgaracters with a very interesting addition of magical creatures such as faeries, kelpies, elves, and more. So if you like fantasy give this series a read. Just a note, valiant conpletly deviates from tithe's story line but is needed for ironside because characters from both are extremly important for the plot in ironside.

My top picks would have to be:
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho (if you like soul-searching; applies to everyone stuff) Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer (if you like deep reads) Catch-22 by Joseph Heller (if you're a fan of irony and paradoxes) The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams (if you are reading this list then you're on the Abridged website which means you like YGO:TAS which means you have a sense of humor which means you're almost guaranteed to like this book)

Well, if you like books that have... quite a few action scenes, I would like to suggest the "Tomorrow Series" by John Marsden. It's about a fictional war in Australia, and is quite freaking awesome, if I do say so myself.
Also, "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak, which is my personal favorite because the writer has such a unique writing style. Hope this helps! Last edited by FuzzyG57; 05-15-2010 at 10:40 PM.

Naked Lunch by William S. Burrough. There is one part that is pretty damn gross. I had to put the book down, but mostly because I had to use the bathroom.
The Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King. First Stephen King novel I read that wasn't a horror and by far one of my favorites. Tyrannosaur Canyon by Douglas Preston. Somewhat of a crime drama with a dinosaur. It's not a living dinosaur, but damn important to the plot. The title is actually why I bought the book.
