PlayStation Network Hacking
Yup, somebody hacked into the PlayStation Network last week, and they stole all 77million account's info there. Including names, passwords, billing addresses and credit card details.
This was interjected in the PS3 topic, but as I pointed out there, it affects not only PS3 users, but anybody signed up to the PSN, including PSP users and people signed up to the blog just because they like trolling Sony. Official FAQ on what has happened here: http://faq.en.playstation.com/cgi-bi...B&p_faqid=5593 Although I am a member of PSN, I couldn't help but laugh at the irony - PSN is not as secure as XBox Live, which is a Microsoft network, and we all know how secure Microsoft is. Speaks volumes, doesn't it? Sony is currently losing a lot of money to Microsoft on the big home console end and Nintendo on the handheld console end. I wonder how they can hope to recover. I heard about this. I haven't been able to get on my PSN account for a while now so I am assuming this is the reason.

Yes, this was because they deactivated the network last Wednesday after discovering the intrusion.
Seems our credit card details might be safe, as that's the only thing they bothered to encrypt. I stress the might though. |

This made me happy I don't own a PS3. I'm already terrified enough of my bank information being online.
