Not whatever the hell he wants... my interpretation of it is that it's only to a certain extent, it's not like he's allowed to run riot.

Underling's behaviour, language and mannerisms are not extreme by any stretch of the imagination. And when he's not in internet /b/oss mode he's actually a pretty cool guy :U

The new zealand anime forums do not even allow the F word and racist pics are banned the same as nasty pms and VM's and being called a condescending prick on most forums is usually given a warning anyway

You've been around for a whole week longer. Whoop-dee-do.

The thing is, there are a thousand other situations that you could have called out Underling for, but you picked an instance where he was actually being quite tame.

Calling someone a prick is not a thing for you to get so torn up over, nor is it a bannable offense. The worse you react the worse he's going to troll you. It's that simple. He's not getting banned for a single incident that was hardly even noteworthy so please quit making a fuss over it. If you don't like Underling then put him on your ignore list.

He can be banned for breaking the rules but "prick" is not normally strong enough an insult for anything like that.

And just because other forums do something a certain way does not require that we have to do things in that way.

This also isn't a thread for forum complaints.

This forum isn't like the New Zealand anime forums, and that's not going to change. We run things differently around here and if you don't like it, that's your opinion. But don't expect your rants to make any difference around here unless you manage to get one of the admins to agree with you, which I doubt would happen.

In short: stop making public complaints and stick to privately reporting posts and situations.

ALSO: Swearing is NOT against our forum rules. Other forums have that rule, and they are allowed to have it. But here, we don't have that rule, and we don't plan on changing that.

take last year for example, people were banned for trolling when someone started a thread about something racist or posted a rude visitor message

it seems to have changes somehow

Underling isn't a member, he's an institution. A chaotic force of nature which has a net positive benefit on the forums. Rule 14 allows him to be himself within reason and still fall within the rules of the forum.

Swearing itself is allowed on the forums, as are arguments. There is a line when it comes to insults, but just being offended by a statement does not in itself mean that the statement breaks the rules. Overall context is important, and it is up to an individual moderator to determine if something crosses the line. And if they're unsure they can ask for a higher up's opinion

=Mai, I think you have lost this battle as basically the mod's, though won't say it like this, see underling as necessary evil, where yes he has done acts he would get banned for were he another user, but he entertains them enough to override this and so he hasn't been banned and unless does something extreme, unlikely he will, guess this system ain't perfect <shrugs>

=Though to be fair, i like underling and see him more like an extreme overmind, where though may not always agree with how he writes something, rarely disagree with what he writes, however that being said, I can see why you would dislike this rule but if makes you feel better, our great leaders of this site have made many more strange fuck-ups than this one <_<

Makers of racist threads still get banned.
Flaming a racist who is going to get banned is unnecessary, and a bannable offense since flaming is against the rules anyway. (And yes, this forum has a different concept of what "flaming" is to some, tamer forums)

And the second thing, I don't ever remember anyone getting banned for a rude visitor message. As part of an argument that has already gone too far, then yes, but not solely for a rude visitor message.

Really? I don't think that, out of all of the cases where he misbehaved in a way but wasn't banned, if he were anyone else, he would have been banned. Also, he's allowed more freedom not only because he entertains the Mods and Admins, but mostly because he entertains a majority of the site.

Don't you find it odd that you, a man-child going to school in order to become a lawyer, are questioning the purpose of a person referring to another person's actions, when lawyers do this everyday? They cite famous high court cases that have changed the interpretation of laws or even revoked them. Always these are related to what is the subject. Which is what Masty was doing; He was referring to Rena's previous actions, which have gotten her banned, as an example.

You not only seem to have the paranoid delusion that the Mods are obsessed with suppressing your opinions, but you also have an unhealthy obsession and a slight misunderstanding of what is irony is.

I personally wouldn't shy away from saying that Underling is a necessary evil. He certainly is. And you're right, he does entertain the staff, and also most of the site. The rule for Underling, to a certain extent, gives him a little immunity, or at least a greater resilience to being banned than other
