New computer OS

I am currently building an OS from scratch. This obviously will take some time. But if you guys have any suggestions of what you want in it. Post them here and I'll try to put them in. Thanks. When it's done I'll post a link for the beta if you guys would want to download it.

What type of kernel? Monolithic or microlithic?
Will it be Unix-like?

It depends I'm going to try out both. If I like one or the other. No it won't be unix like. Right now though I'm leaning more towards Microlithic because its more reliable, but it might change.

My computer got fried and the only thing that was saved were the hard drive. So I tried to re-activate Alcohol 120 on the new setup, but the computer ID, is different. What can I do to activate it?

What's the point of a new OS? Just use a linux kernel and build up from there, you'll save yourself a lot of time IMO.

Edit- Ah, didn't notice this thread was pretty much dead. Sorry.
