It is always the few huge blue counties that determine Michigan going blue. These counties just have not finished counting nearly enough of the precincts because they have so many more to do than the red counties in Michigan.

Clinton caught up in Virginia at the tail end and eventually won. Michigan may go the same way.

But she HAS to win both Michigan and Wisconsin in order to be president.

Really did not predict that it would come down to this.

If this is true, and he did win florida without it close enough to be contested, by my math he only needs arizona to get to 269. And if it stays at 269 it goes to the house

I'd say Trump taking Wisconsin is accurate. CNN was dragging its heels on calling Florida and I'm guessing its the same for Wisconsin. I can't believe this election is going to be decided by Detroit.

Actually given the way the US electoral college works (and the first past the post system in general) voting for anyone but the two biggest parties is a wasted vote, and makes it more likely that the party you are most against will get in. CGP grey does a really good explanation of why this happens here.

Congress is required to pass legislation, approve international treaties, set a budget and taxes, and declare war.

The president controls the armed forces (and can do a LOT without needing to declare war), the nuclear deterrent, pretty much all the diplomatic ties with other nations and groups, as well as all the federal agencies (NSA, FBI, NASA, FEMA, CIA, EPA ect...)

Exactly, it's the system that's fucked, not the way that people vote. I still stand by voting for the candidate who I agree with, and not voting just to keep the other big party out of office.

While I don't disagree with your ideals, you cannot change the system without first utilising it to your advantage.

It's never a wasted vote to vote with your conscience for the candidate you best believe can do the job and aligns the closest with your ideals. The false belief that you HAVE to choose democrat or republican is what keeps us stuck in this shitty two party system.

one time there was a cat chasing a mouse in the parking lot of my mom's work. I went out and chased the cat away. the mouse was standing right in front of me just staring and i was looking down at it.
Suddenly it jumped at me, so my reaction as well was to jump.

and it did and my foot came right down on the mouse and crushed it
i felt so bad :(
