This city is afraid of me. I have seen its true face. The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!'... and Gon's Balls will whisper 'First... comes... rock!' Hah! Made you stare at Naruto's Marshmallow! Pushing the logo off-center to drive TheOcean insane.

Actually, I know several guys who took their (admittedly obsessed) girlfriends to the movie. They told me they loved it because of all the action scenes. (Possibly also because of "hot" girls, but they probably wouldn't tell me that.) It's really a great movie, and once you see it, it makes you want to read Twilight. Seriously. I know a lot of people who saw the movie first, then liked it so much they went ahead and read the books too! Even if you haven't read the books, the movie really is amazing.

I was referring to harry potter. He feels the need to do everything alone, it's he's problem and he has to save the world alone, that kind of thing. and if voldemort was a worthy villain to a teenage boy, then he would die trying to kill him, even though there would be no logical reason a teenager could kill a mass murderer. In other words, he really doesn't seem to value his life very much.

Maybe so, but it seems like he has an inability to be happy. [ Remember when he was on that date with Cho? You would think he would be happy, but instead he was just awkward, wondering if he should compete with the couple next to him. ]

ok suppose can see what your saying, though I would not say he is an emo personally, just really whiny, then again, suppose he has things to whine about, unlike his even whiner friend Ron

God now all girls in my flat are getting mad about this book because of the movie (hate it when people only a read book because it has been made into a movie) and when ask what they love about it, I am told that Mr Edward is very sexy, how can that make a book good, surely has to be more to plot than that, unless this book is a porno

Books are always better than the movie... Every movie that I've seen that was a book first sucked/was worse than the book, the only exception being Christine. The book was okay, the movie was better.

Kur, strangely I am going to disagree, though on whole you are right, not always:

-Fight Club is a amazing book, but an even more amazing movie
-Felt that they did a very good job on the Lord of Rings
-Again with, One flew over the CookWho's Nest (yes spelt wrong)
-And many of Terry Pratchett's books turned movie's are well done

So though 90% are poor, not all, however:

-Harry Potter, bad books, worse movies
-Battle Royale, good book, ok movie
-Eragon, ok books, movies which should be burned now

Cannot say about Twilight as not seen it though

now that you point it out, that is the usual response I get when I ask why twilight is so good...it's never "I love the story" or "it has great character development" it's always "Edward's hot"

Sadly... that is also my response. Though I also like Alice a lot. And, now that I think about it, I like just about every character now.

And Fat1Fared: I don't like the Eragon books... Paolini is one of my writing idols, but only because he was 15 when he wrote Eragon. I'm going to read the entire series, because I don't believe in quitting a series once you've started. I finished Harry Potter, didn't I? And I kept reading Warriors until there were so many books and so many series that I've completely lost track of where I was. I started reading Inkdeath the other day. But imagine my disappointment when Brisingr came out...

"The Inheritance Cycle? Huh. Wasn't this the Inheritance Trilogy?"

And then I find out...

Paolini: Hey, guys. I know I promised you three books: this was called the Inheritance Trilogy since Eragon came out. But guess what. This book was just so fucking long and so fucking complicated that I have to write another one! Isn't that just bloody great?

I wanted to scream...

On a side note, I just want to say... Where's Heavy when you really need him? I think we're really off-topic, guys...

Sadly, that is my response sometimes. Once someone made a comment to my friend and me (while we were discussing Twilight) something along the lines of, "What's so special about Twilight? People treat it like it's the Bible!" My friend and I yell at the exact same time, "IT IS THE BIBLE!"
I think people read the books and say "Edward's hot!" because they imagine Edward as a part of their life. He is a character that stands out to young girls. He is described enough that we can picture him, know his personality, who he is. But he also has a few blanks. The reader can fill in the rest, and make their own perfect person out of Edward. The easiest way to describe this feeling, this knowing that Edward is different for everyone, is "Edward's hot." He is "hot" to every person in a different way. That's what makes Edward - and Twilight - so popular.

Well if you want to be abused by an overly possessive, self loving, pedo vampire, be my guest, I mean Bella fell for him because he wanted to drink her blood, so why not everyone else.

Sorry only having joke with you all, maybe it is to do with fact I'm emotionally dead and so cannot the basics of this love thing

Kurma, not sure what you are saying, I think the Eragon books are ok, not amazing, but worth reading (well apart from Brisingr, which should have just been called "The quest for more Money" or maybe "A pointless plot filler"

As for Paolini, well the whole him getting published by 17 (started at 15) was kind of helped by his Mun being publisher, but still think he is good writer (though strong arguments for him being an unoriginal one) and could go on to be a very good writer one day, just shame he seems to be another who puts money before fans and pride.

he honestly could've finished with the third book. as I stated earlier, there's about ten pages of actual story in there. he should have written more story, less filler. I normally don't mind filler in other forms of entertainment, but not in my books.
and what's wrong with getting off-topic?
You could even argue that we're not off-topic at all...we are talking about best selling books.

I really like all the characters in the series except for Bella. As the series progressed I decided that I liked Jacob better than Edward. Alice and Jasper and Emmet and even Rosalie are all a lot of fun and I wish there could have been more of them. Especially Jasper, I think he's really interesting.

Edward is overrated. I thought he was funny in the first book, but then he got old... bleh.

lord couldn't tell mate, have to say the mind of a girl is beyond me, but the lie they tell you about wanting nice sensitive boyfriend is Bull.

Sally your like me though, (no that was not an insult) you like to be different and infact are different, which means you are once again the exception which proves the rule, rather than rule itself.

I love you for mentioning this masterpiece. It is my single favourite literary work in existence.

Unfortunately, that doesn't make you any better than a good chunk of Twilight fantards, who beat the shit out of people who don't like the books.

If you think you're better than Twilight fans, then I suggest you don't beat them up.

I attack these people as an offended Christian. Our Holy Bible being compared to a book detailing the sexual affairs of one of God's Children and a Satanic bloodsucker? This is absolute blaspheme! As a devote Christian, I am deeply offended by her comment, and the death by 2x4 can only be interpreted as the divine hand of Providence at work.

No, that's a lie. While I do think I'd probably look pretty gosh-darn-good by comparison when standing next to a Twilight fan who just got the shit kicked kicked out of her (And smell better too), I would never actually do it. The jury probably wouldn't be won over with, "She likes Twilight! She compared it to the Bible! She deserved it!"

Bah Rumbird.

Thank God, lol. I was going through that paragraph thinking, "No, this can't be real! THIS CAN'T!" xD
