I can say, having been there, environmentally your country reminded me the most of the US, followed by parts of Italy.

As for why I liked it better than most. All the Germans I met were very friendly. Better than France and Belgium in that regard. (Though the Nederlanders and Italians still beat you in that regard). Also you're churches are pretty.
