This city is afraid of me. I have seen its true face. The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!'... and Gon's Balls will whisper 'First... comes... rock!' Hah! Made you stare at Naruto's Marshmallow! Pushing the logo off-center to drive TheOcean insane.

Default 1/17 Forum Migration

Everyone, we are losing our main server, Thelema. Without Revver paying is regularly we cannot afford Thelema's rental costs. Thelema barely runs the site and including the forums due to the inefficiencies in the site(As you can tell every time that there's a BAR race), and our second, less powerful, server Hastur will not be able to run it. This past week we had to accept the reality of the situation and come to a decision on the future of the site.

When faced with the death of the site we came up with a plan that should hopefully allow us to keep the site up, and still have a forum for the community. The main page and episodes page(these two pages get most of our 'hits') will be hosted on Hastur, and I've offered up my own personal server to host the forums (the forums are the most database intensive part of the site). Splitting up the load should help us deal with the fact that we are going to be using less 'powerful' servers, and everything will still be under the same url.

However, my server is no where near as 'powerful' as Thelema, and it will not be able to run the old forum software even with the load split up. I have migrated the forums to different software which will allow it to run more efficiently. But, given the very short notice we have before we lose Thelema, the look and feel of the forums will be VERY DIFFERENT until we are able to customize it. And it may run kinda rocky for a while, until we are able to properly optimize the server and the software.

What does this mean? DON'T PANIC. I have moved over as much data as possible to the new system. Most of your posts should be here on the new forums. The new forum software has blog functionality, but BLOGS ARE TEMPORARILY DISABLED.

On these new forums we need you to go into your account settings and enter in your birth date. This is to make the site compliant with US law. We are required by law to ask your birth date, and if you are under 13 get approval from your parents for you to participate on this site. Those who do not enter in their birth date will be restricted from the forums until they do so.

In summation: Forums drastically changed, don't panic, in time we hope to make the new software look as much like our current site as possible. It was either make this change or shut down the site.

The Off Topic section has gone.
This new site confuses me, but I'm sure I'll get used to it over time.

Perhaps we should return it to its original name to spare the confusion

I really like this new forum better than the one we had, but I've been using vBulletin for years, so maybe I'm a tad biased.

Anyway, congrats to all staff for going through with such a painless migration. I'm sure it could have turned out much worse than it did.

I think the transition is alright so far, but...

-no signatures is getting on my nerves. I can see why it's been turned off but still.
-the user profile and control panel pages are all messed up. There's like 5 or 6 pieces I'm never going to use right there and it's just not to my liking. this might be different for other users.
-image code in the profile page. I'm unhappy that it doesn't work. I can also see why this was turned off but yeah.

There will never be any signatures on these forums...
Signatures are just a byproduct of days before avatars that have somehow unfortunately stuck around somehow and just started being used for crappy little quotes or whoring out your own shit.

Its really not worth it.
You can easily tell people apart from each other...

I NEED A "WATCH TOPICS" OPTION.

Something that notifies me there are new posts in my watched threads ON the forums, without the need to e-mail me. That is all.

My first time back on the site as a regular user and I got so lost but I am glad to know that this website is still here. And good luck to the staff with running the site with it spilt to two different servers, I am sure that you will continue doing as good job with the site as what you have done in the past.

Badass, I love the vBulletin forum system. I'm a member of various vB-based forums; the staff will soon see it's great. There's a TON of customization available, and the moderators/administrators have a bunch of different options as far as discipline, features, discussion and record-keeping is concerned.

I do know a decent bit about the functionalities and customizations of vB, but not how to actually do it! :D Though if admins/mods want to learn more about it, another forum I know which uses vB has an accomplished admin that knows plenty about it.

Were the user-weblogs a casualty of the transition?
Or am I just retarded for not seeing them?

Yeah, but it doesn't have those little pop-up notices - you need to go to the User Control Panel area in order to check for updates, which is kind of a drag. I'm just that lazy.

You make it sound like posting quotes and whoring your web site are bad things.

Yes, but when? First Face says it'll be soon, but then he says it won't be that soon, so how soon is soon?

Apparently matter of weeks, could be sooner.

Depends on how fast [^_^] can sort it.
