On the positive side, it does seem that recently Anime creators have remembered that they can take risks, be creative and do not need to pander to their fans all the time, both in terms of plot and fan service.

I was originally watching Code Geass with Ave, first season on YouTube, and R2 on crappy anime-streaming websites. I got busy and then we stopped watching it after a while.

And then I remembered that it existed when I saw DVDs on sale from a vendor at Youmacon. Got them off Amazon cheaper. Netflix and Hulu aren't gonna be streaming Code Geass anytime soon so I figured it'd be important to own the DVDs.

I went for a long time of not finding a new anime that was watchable instead of being all fanservice for the sake of fanservice. Last winter I finally gave Hunter x Hunter a try and was hooked right away. It is definitely one of my overall favorite shows.

Also, they must spend half the budget on Killua's expressions and wardrobe
