I used to be obsessed with Mitch Albom's books back when I was in high school. His writing is so smooth and easy going, like C. S. Lewis'. Gaaah I'm so jealous...
I also highly recommend Jose Saramago's Blindness, as well as seconding the recommendation of Jame Joyce's Ulysses. Those two just blow me the freak away.

Never Trust An Elf
I simply love this book. I learned a LOT from it about how Life really goes. It's frightening how this book is accurate about how the life in business and in the underworld goes. *shivers*

World War Z is among the best books I've read, zombie angle or no. Great social commentary and examination of how humanity reacts to crisis.
Also, the Sword of Truth saga by Terry Goodkind is one of if not the best fantasy series I've read. And just about anything Harry Turtledove for you alternate history fans.

My favorite books are Peony in Love by Lisa See and The Secret History by Donna Tartt. Both of them are fantastic reads!
And I also love Howl's Moving Castle! Once I'm done with the novel I'm currently reading, I'm going to start The Master and Margarita, which I'm very excited for. :)

Really enjoyed Manson, Coming down fast by simon wells
a descriptive retelling of the manson family, how they began, charles manson and his most notorious followers upbringings and destructive influences that led them to the horrible disturbing murders they committed. Its very well written and really puts you in Los Angeles in the 1960s too i also loved "My booky wook" by Russel brand

Gun in my head I'd say John Dies at the End by David Wong. No gun I'd say the same thing. House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski's pretty wicked too. Also, lots of Stephen King stuff.

There are a ton of books I could put in here, but for some reason, I've been thinking about The Journeyman and The Great and Terrible Quest a lot lately. They're fabulous books. Although if I were to pick a favorite it would undoubtedly be The Lord of the Rings.
