This city is afraid of me. I have seen its true face. The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!'... and Gon's Balls will whisper 'First... comes... rock!' Hah! Made you stare at Naruto's Marshmallow! Pushing the logo off-center to drive TheOcean insane.

Default How many of you hate yugioh gx and 5ds?

I hate them both. With a passion.

Anybody else???

EDIT: Disregard this... it was in a time when people annoyed me with it. Now, I love GX and 5Ds. With a passion.

I don't care for GX as far as I can tell the plot of 5ds makes a lot more sence.

I refuse to give either a try. In my opinion, they're an insult to the original seires.

GX was great. It gets better every season, and the characters are just as awesome as the originals.

Haven't bothered with 5D's yet.

Yeah, I guess I am just stubborn. I suppose I find the idea of a whole school for teaching yugioh to be absurd.

The GX Manga is better than the anime, by a long stretch. It's more of a direct sequel to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Manga that abandons the plot of the anime completely.

I like GX simply because of how fun it is to tear apart while watching it with a group of incredibly bored friends.

Been watching 5Ds every week for a long time now... it has its problems, but it proves to be fairly exciting.

Not like YGO DM was a work of art anyway.

Haven't bothered with GX.

It's more like "Fusions done correctly".

As for the whole wind thing... 5Ds gets around it with the rule of cool.

GX, 5Ds, and even YGO:TOS are all decent animes in their own right, 4kids Censors just decided to rape the shit out of them turning them to garbage.

Here's what I got out of each one:

GX:
Ryou (Zane) is a bad ass
Asuka (Alexis) has nice boobs
. . . I'm done here.

Comment from one of my fangirl friends: I took one look at Judai's (Jaden's) hair, and then put the comic book down.

5Ds:
Yu-gi-oh trying to go emo-matrix? Yeah, not feeling it . . . plus all the main characters are trying way too hard to be cool to the point where none of them have any personality. Yuusei somehow manages to create a protagonist even more lacking in personality than Yami. Jack bores me because he does not have the guts to be as much of an ass as Kaiba. At least in GX, all the other characters were clowns so that we could highlight Ryou's bad-ass-ness.

On another note, Aki has to be the single hottest female character in all of yu-gi-oh (not saying much), and perhaps from any main-stream anime I've seen in the last 5 years or so (that's saying much). I love her character design too. While she does fall into the same sad "I'm so cliche bad-ass I'm boring" pit that the rest of the 5Ds characters, she's the only one that really makes it work for me.

Also here's how I summarize the 10th movie special:

*Aki's Boobs*
Yugi: Who the fuck are all you people?
Yusei: If we try to explain that, we won't have time for the card game-- just oggle his time traveling motorcycle.

END

CHEERS TO 10 YEARS OF YU-GI-OH!! PLEASE CONTINUE TO BUY CHILDREN'S CARD GAMES FROM NOW ON! THANK YOU!!

Well, if Children's Card Games are the preffered method of controlling/taking over/saving the world, you may as well teach everyone how to play the game. Otherwise they'll be losers.

Yep, considering that since Duelist, Yu-Gi-Oh! is nothing more than a card game...

If it wasn't for the whole Egyptian background I woudn't watch Yu-Gi-Oh, because it'd just be card games.
So I don't really like GX, but I haven't even seen 5D's yet.

Original is best! ^o^

I can't stand it. When my brother watches it, I get sick.

5D's just recycles character types.
Like Jack trying to be like Kaiba. It's pathetic. Come up with something new, please.

I dislike GX.
I started 5Ds but got bored after a while and gave up on it. I only like the animation in it though.

I couldn't get past three episodes of GX.

5Ds, on the other hand, I actually enjoy. Well, the original Japanese version anyway...the dub made me *facepalm* because I'm sorry, I can't take Yusei seriously if he's got Tristan's voice. Though I've only watched partway through season two (I think I'm up to episode 52); from what I've heard, the recent season is full of crack.

Can't beat the original cracktastic-yet-lovable series in my book, though.

I guess what I should've said after that is how terrible I think they are from both an opinionative and objectional viewpoint. I would never seriously watch it, either, or even bother trying to.

These character types are recycled ad infinitum across pretty much any series of the Shonen genre, so it's a moot point.

Ok, I've only watched the Japanese, and I have to say that I found the first season entertaining enough. Again, a little bit cliche but I can work with it.

As soon as the boys started their card-game street gang "Team Satisfaction" (Manzoku saseruze!) . . .

*step back* *turn off* *scarred for life*

"This must be some bizarre alternative universe where nerds bully other nerds."

I speak Japanese, and I can honestly say that the original is every bit as cheesy as the dub (if not more). If you don't feel that, bone up on your Japanese.

But you can refresh things and use the same archtypes. They didn't even bother to do that.

I rely on fansubs. I know a smattering of Japanese words, and a touch of basic grammar and that's it lol. Chalk it up to being an ignorant American who can only truly speak American.

It is cheesy, but the dub, as per usual, sanitizes things to a ridiculous degree. And the voices are just wrong (Tristan = Yusei? Australian version of Bakura = Jack? Do not approve). So I keep to the fansubs.

Haha I heard the Team Satisfaction thing got kind of weird. I don't think I've gotten there yet...just in the backstory episodes with Kiryu so far (which I LOLed at, because like you said, "this must be some bizarre alternate universe where nerds bully other nerds", but didn't mind too much). The motorcycle thing still kills me a bit, though. XD

Maybe if they weren't dubbed by 4kids I would be more interested in watching it...lol

But the last episode of GX I'll watch cause it has Yugi in it.

And the new move: Yugioh 5DX. I'll watch that too! :D
