Cosplaying.
What's your opinion on Cosplay?
Love it? Hate it? Have no opinion? As for me... well, it depends. I don't really like to cosplay all THAT much, UNLESS I'm at the convention, and then I change into my cosplay outfit. I mean, I don't wanna look like this: In public. True, I'd probably get asked for a few photos, but you know. Personal opinion. Anyways... what do you guys think of Cosplaying/Cosplays? Ugh... Personally, I'm really iffy on this subject...
Really, there's no one to tell you to not have fun cosplaying. BUT There comes a point where some people should just NOT cosplay, if you know what I mean. But there's really nobody to tell you to stop, so it's whatever. My one friend has his own joke about the so-called 'lolitas': he says that the those headbands kinda look like feminine napkins. (He says he knows what they look like cuz his girlfriend tells him to buy them for her.) :/ But I like cosplaying regardless, and no nasty joke nor anyone else can convince me otherwise. But yeah, there comes a point where I'll be like "hm, it'd be really fun to cosplay that.' A moment later, I'll check myself and think 'Nah...' And kudos to those to choose to take on a really hard-to-pull-off, detailed costume, or to the people who go in groups and perform skits! |

I honestly love cosplaying. I have a huge (to me it's huge, to others -- Not so much, lol) list of cosplays that I wanna do. I do give major props to people that do skits and all that (I have stage freight). :-) But, yeah, there's my opinion. Lmao.

never done it. I kinda want to though. I am currently looking for a convention that may be near North NJ. If I succed I may go to it and cosplay as a pokemon or something. It seems rather fun^^

I'm sort of scared to seeing as most cases of fangirl/boy atacks are done to cosplayers. It have to be something old from the 70s to reduce my chances of being glomped to death.
Asian Sasuke, that's asking to get attacked by rabid girls. I'd have to lose ten pounds before I'd think of trying to cosplay. |

I have never cosplayed yet, but I'm going to next year when I head to Sakura Con.
I've always really wanted to cosplay, but never really had the chance. Course, my cosplay remains at the convention as well. ^_^ I'm not too sure what the genral public thinks of my bright red trenchcoat. ;) Oh, here's a question, what about crossplay? You know, dressing as the oppoisit sex while cosplaying. That's what I'm doing. I don't really think it's too odd, but what do you guys think? Would you ever do it? |

depends on who. Female Ed cosplayer are ok. It's the males cross dressing that get creapy. It's cute when a girl dresses as a guy sometimes.

I'm a Bakura crossplayer. It's awkward when people mistake me for a guy, but, it's kinda cool.
I'm really good at it, too.. I can get his mannerisms and accent perfect. It's creepy, sometimes. |

Uh...if James is the girl... why does she have an erection? ._.

I don't think that's an erection, I think its just the pants buckling up. It can happen if your hips are sized weird.

Yeah, I get that sometimes. The pants buckling, I mean. Not the erection.
Does anyone have any tips on getting the hair just right for Bakura? I mean, my hairs the same length and colour, it just drops the style every time I try... DX |

Cosplaying is beast! However, I do not have enough money to make or buy one, so dressing up as crazy as I can is fun too =3

I've never been to a convention or dressed up as anything but I think it's cool when I see pictures of people doing it. Some of the pictures I've seen are really bad though but as long as the people are happy, whatever. But some people are so good at it.
I think for me it'd be hard to cosplay anyway because most of the anime characters are all white when I'm Hispanic. Also some of those costumes and wigs cost a lot anyway. |

I made my own costume. Bakura's quite easy... Blue shirt, blue-and-white striped t-shirt, bandage round right arm, white/light blue jeans, Millennium Ring, correctly styled hair. Thiry pounds at most.

I find cosplaying to be my highlight of a convention. It's really fun to make the costumes and find ways to make certain props. The best thing is making new friends at the convetion and having someone come up to you and say 'exuse me can i take your picture' makes you feel so proud about your costume
I personally take part in the masquerade and perfom skits on stage and when people laugh at your performance and cheer at your costume it feels so rewarding and worth the effort you put into making your costume. Costumes cost a lot if you buy them but making them is way more fun, cheaper and generally you can be more accurate. Plus some brought costumes don't fit right and tend to be quite big. So cosplay FTW... I'm cosplaying Roronoa Zoro (Unlimited Cruise Version) from One Piece at May London Expo and Pharoh Atem from Yu-Gi-Oh at October London Expo |

I don't think I'd cosplay myself (I'd have to go the route of buying because I can't sew *sadface*), but if it's done right, it can be really cool. Team Satisfaction and We <3 Card Games do GREAT YGO cosplays, and Sreddous (her LJ username) does a fantastic Kaiba. And those are difficult to pull off properly.
I have yet to fully experience the whole cosplay thing at an actual con, but from what I've seen, even the cringe-worthy ones are all in good fun. So I'm for it. (And honestly, I go to the New York Renaissance Faire in full peasant garb every year, so it's not like I don't do something similar. ) |

The last convention I went to, I started out as Ryou, then about halfway through I ducked into a bathroom, styled my hair differently and came out as Bakura. Scared the living daylights out of a group of Yu-Gi-Oh! cosplayers, because they wanted to take a picture with me because they were minus a Bakura, and my Bakura impression was so good they actually backed away. Awesome.

So do I and typically when I go to Cons that's what I wear. I figure somewhere there's got to be an anime or manga suitable to the style I wear. =D
