This city is afraid of me. I have seen its true face. The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!'... and Gon's Balls will whisper 'First... comes... rock!' Hah! Made you stare at Naruto's Marshmallow! Pushing the logo off-center to drive TheOcean insane.

Default Persona

This thread will be dedicated to the discussion of all Persona games. I've only played P3 and P4, but I hear the first two are quite good as well.

I prefer the characters in P4 to that of P3. P4 was able to add more depth to the characters and situations even with the insanely more silly stroyline. I do prefer P3's story and gameplay were superior although not being able to command my team often pissed me off. So overall I would say P3 is a bit better but P4 is still f***ing awesome.
I've finished P4 since I first started discussing it and I must say I think I judged it too harshly. The story ended up blossoming into something truly amazing and the true end was something that I did not expect at all. I would say that the story is the strongest part of P4 and rightfully so.

I didn't like the characters much at first, but they grew on me as the story progressed. I still claim that P3 had better characters, but not by much. I still don't like Yosuke. I find him flat and uninteresting, but he is the only character I feel this way about. I think my favorite character would have to be Naoto. This is very unfortunate because she (Yes, she. If the game designers wanted you to think she was a boy they shouldn't have made her the most attractive female in the game) is complete ass in battle. She uses a gun for christ sake and still manages to suck worse than Teddie.

I don't understand why everyone is so upset about not being able to control their team. Even though I had the option to micromanage my team mates in P4, I usually just let them do whatever they wanted anyway and only took over during boss battles. In my experience, if you plan for the computers tendencies in battle, you can easily get around their flaws.

It was not very much upsetting as to annoying. It never made me lose the game it just always inconveniences you. Example: "Four enimies appear that we already scanned and know are weak to fire. It is Junpei's turn, he uses agi to knock one down and gains an extra turn. Any average gamer could easily figure out you could knock all the enimies down in one turn for a rush attack, but wait what's this??? Junpei feels the need to use agi on the same one???" As I said it just got really annoying after a while. You could say it makes sense because the characters all have minds of their own, but how hard would it be for Minato to shout orders during battle? Yes you can adapt to these but the point is, you shouldn't have to. Or at least just give the option to use the AI or not like in P4. I'm glad they are going to add the option in P3P and that I can finally play as a female red headed protaganist.

The inability to control your party was a stylistic choice. The theme of the game was about forming bonds with others and relying on others for help. It would undermine the theme of the game if you could just take over and do everything yourself. Yes, you had to deal with the limitations of the AI, but I think it was worth it to avoid compromising the theme of the game.

I had no idea they were remaking P3. I don't have a PSP so this new doesn't really affect me, but it's sort of neat. I have both the original P3 and FES, so I don't really feel the need to buy the game a third time.

Yeah, P3P has a female protaganist option. This apparently changes the story quite a bit but to the same conclusion.

Definitely looking forward to P3P. Having all of those boys running around and not being able to do anything but date girls. The fact that we finally get to date Shinjiro makes me squeal a little(lot),haha.

I'm stoked for P3P, I just got into Persona last summer, Cleared P3 and P4 and have been trying to find Eternal Punishment and Innocent Sin somewhere.

True Ending on P4 is a bitch though.

P3P is actually my first experience with persona and I completely love it. Up to the last month now and I have enjoyed every minute, one the best gaming experiences I have ever had.

I’m going to move on to persona 4 next but can someone tell me if it’s worth getting P3:FES for the epilogue as I’m prepared to play the entire game again but is the extra story worth the time?

The epilogue actually ruined the story for me, so no, I don't recommend it.

I kinda liked the mystery of what happened to the protagonist, but the epilogue takes that away, I do agree with Cegem that it explains a bit more about the final battle though.
