Whelp, I always make it my ultimate duty to post in these twilight threads all over the net. *WARNING: THERE MAY BE SPOILERS, I'M NOT TOO SURE, I JUST TYPE WHAT IS IN MY HEAD*
My Favorite Characters Alice and Jasper. They happened to be my favorite since I first read twilight (back when it wasn't cool to read it). I liked Alice because every time she appeared in the book she was a beaming ray of happiness to me. For Jasper, truthfully, I only liked his name. and I wanted to be the girl who didn't squeal 'EDWARd is MY LOvAR!' Nope, wasn't going to have that. By the time New Moon came, i hoped for more Jasper scenes, none came, though The part when Alice and Bella came back and all Jasper and Alice did was gaze into each others eyes not speaking a word. That was phenomenal. Then in Eclipse when he had his whole newborn bit in the book. First person on the face of this earth to scream of happiness=Me. I will not mention BD. ;| Even though I love Jasper and Alice's fictional booties to the end of their torture, I refuse. The one thing I really liked about BD though was Jane and Alec. They are epically awesome. Them and their wanting to destroy the Cullen Crew. Ha, they make me have a good laugh. My view of the Author Really nice, I got to have a 8 second conversation with her when she came to do a book signing here in Canada. She read my name CORRECTLY which was a shocker to me seeing as everyone else has trouble pronouncing it, i have no clue why. Then she said , I quote ; " ***** ? that is a nice name." I smiled and said thanks. Then before I had to leave I blurted that Jasper was my favorite character and I never want him gone. Fan Girls around be stared at me in disbelief , Stephenie smiled and said, thanks. Then I ran away. yeah. That was my epic conversation with her. View on the Series of books broken down. Twilight-Loved. I found Twilight was a good way to start it al. I didn't stop reading it as soon as I started. Twilight being the first book I ever read non-stop. Following that was someone of the Harry Potter Books XD. New Moon - Hated until the part where Bella runs away to her Eddie Puss. I never really liked Jacob, so for the larger fraction of the book I was mildly disappointed. Eclipse- Liked, twas Okay. The epic battle at the end was epic only cause people died. If no one died, I would have been like 'What the hell is this crap' Breaking Dawn- ... D< My exact reaction to the book after spending 28 hours straight reading it. "What the hell was that, i spent my money, and wrote on a friken worship scroll for this straight out of fanfiction.net book" thus souring the whole series for me. it's amazing what one book can do for a person. It just turned my view on the whole series upside down, inside and out, into the river, down a waterfall, plunged into the ocean, got lost and reached the end of the world, where it got tossed about by Jack Sparrow. Then when the crew went and saw the series box set, they didn't bother saving it cause they heard it was crap. I believe it was only because I had such high expectations for it. The first three weren't bad, so why should the last one be ? The battle i was hoping would occur between the Volturi & The Cullen crew, didn't really happen. Though it did add Jane and Alec to my favorites. [b]Midnight Sun[b]- Was supposed to be the 4th Edwerd POV, until one of SM's people leaked it. Thus shattering her will to write the rest of it. yeah, that completely drew this picture of creepy stalker Edward. Seriously. Having someone watch you sleep at night through your window , without the knowledge of them doing so is not cute, or romantic, It's creepy. Then the movie. Oh dear lord the movie. All the unnecessary close ups, Rpattz faces of constipation, Billy betch face at Edward while driving by, made the movie quite comical. my favorite part was the Baseball scene. I still cannot get over the fact that Rosalie had more lines then Alice. weird. >_> But I can get over the fact that Kristen Hardwick isn't directing New Moon (Thank Jeebus.) Hopefully New Moon will be better. OK DONE XD Don't get offended, i already had to deal with a super fan who told me to die because I didn't like her fictional boyfriend, I teared her a new one, I don't want to go though the same excruciating typing pattern all over again. I'm sure we are all mature enough to read and not over react. No personal attacks are made in this, just simple opinions on my part. |

My favourite part about the movie was the way that they turned nearly all of Alices lines into double entendres. <img src='/images/emoticons/smiley1.png'>

HOORAY ANOTHER SANE FAN
You're right that Edward is creepy. That's why I loved him in Twilight, lol. ...I was thinking, you know, maybe I'd like it if a guy I was interested in was stalking me too LOL. I'm just really weird like that. It's not romantic at all but as long as he didn't watch me get dressed or anything I might like it. xDDDDD I'm not your average fangirl, you know. I also love Jacob. During Eclipse Edward got annoying and I started liking Jacob better. He just felt more consistent and his expectations weren't as high, you know? He was actually human and no one ever claims that he's perfect, whereas Bella constantly claimed that Edward was perfect until Eclipse. I think Eclipse might be my favorite in the series. I wasn't really looking forward to the Twilight movie, I just had a feeling it would suck. I am looking forward to New Moon though. :3 |

I need to see this bloody movie. It's not even about the fact that I read the books and want to see how the movie played out. Now I just want to see it because I can't. >_<
Was it an epic failure? |

Not as bad as I thought it would be.
That's not to say it was good though, not by a longshot. |

I can rant for hours about how bad twilight is.
Stephenie Meyer is a hypocrite, and contradicts herself several times in the book. I know it's fantasy and all that but some parts just don't make sense. Here's just ONE example. In Twilight, Bella goes to Edward's house and sees all the graduation gowns on his wall and asks "How many times did you graduate high school?" and he laughs and says "A lot." HOW CAN THIS BE?!?!!?! Maybe this doesn't work like this in England, but here in Canada, at my school you have to present your elementary school record and report card before they let you enroll. Let's just say for the sake of argument that It is 2009, and Edward goes to enroll in High School in another town, starting for the God knows how much time. Then he presents his elementary school transcript and it's dated say 1960. They would have some questions to ask. And I know the Cullen Fam has their own personal forger who can "forge anything" but It won't make sense. They'd call the other school to check for whatever and they'd be like "Hmm, he never went to our school" then Bam, the whole plan is out the window. Same goes for Carlise with his doctor license. He'd have to present proof of past education and it wouldn't work. I know it's fantasy and if's that's the only reason that this all works I find it a sad excuse. The author expects us all to be blissfully ignorant of all the obvious descrepancies with her work. I know it's a fictional story and it's not supposed to make sense but the parts relating to reality should have a more believeable backstory. And don't even get me started on how she changes all the myths to suit her purposes and how Jacob and his pack is the Incredible Hulk. |

I think you're going a bit too much into this... I mean, I agree with you, not a lot of it does make sense or doesn't add up, but so many other novels do the exact same thing, primarily fiction books, of course. One of the main examples would be Harry Potter, but that's a load of crap anyway.
But I do know how you feel, I myself get quite annoyed when things don't completely add up. But you kinda need to ignore it because you don't get to enjoy books to their full potential otherwise. Don't forget that Twilight is a romance story, too, not a horror or non-fiction story where every little fine detail is stated. The book is about the characters and their feelings. Also, the story of Carlisle being a doctor and Edward graduating several times isn't really a backstory. The backstory would actually be the threat of the other vampire families and the werewolf territory pact thing, despite how important they are to the storyline. What you claim to be a backstory is more of a back-back-back-backstory. Now, I don't know your opinion on books and the Twilight series in general (though I can't imagine it's positive), and I don't know you, but I would say you're being fairly trivial and while the point you made was merely an example, it was quite futile and I would advise you drop the whole thing now, no matter how much unrest it puts to your mind... A heck of a lot of books don't bother with the super-fine details and despite the amount of fans and publicity the Twilight series gets, it won't be particularly remembered in 100 years time. It will just be another book amongst the vast amount of teenage books out there. Nobody really cares about the things that don't exactly make sense, especially because everybody loves the plot and the romance so much. I bet you don't bother looking into the finer details of other books you read, do you? If you did, you may find a number of things that don't fully add up. As I say, drop this now. Not only is it a petty matter, it is a matter people prefer to ignore, especially those who love the Twilight series so much that they don't want to believe there are any flaws. |

The last time I checked, in AMERICA, as Twilight takes place in AMERICA, not in ENGLAND, you don't need any of that. I don't think. I think all you have to do is say, "Oh, yeah, I gratuated" and be smart enough for high school. Which Edward is. Obviously.

Oh, yeah. One more thing. Carlisle goes back to college to learn more medicine stuff like all the time. So his doctor-education stuff would be current. Right?

In Breaking Dawn, they introduce a character who makes illegal passports and driver's licenses for the Cullens. I'm pretty sure this guy could make fake transcripts if he had to.

Yeah, but someone (I forget who and I'm too lazy to look... sorry) just mentioned that they'd call the school and they'd be all, "No, he never went here."

I am a teenage girl in high school. Every female around me is obsessed with this series. I borrowed the books from a friend to see what all the hype was about.
20 pages into it and I wanted to rip it in half. I hate this series. Sorry to everyone who likes it; I should just shut up now before the ranting begins. |

I'm a teenage girl in high school, and slowly but surely, they're beginning to pick up on the series. I read them first, shortly after Eclipse came out, before it was cool to read anything. And then one day I saw someone else with a copy of Twilight. The next week, she'd moved on to New Moon, and two other girls had Twilight, etc., etc. And now everyone's reading them and most of them are hyped about it, while other are like, "Eh", and still others are like, "You guys are so stupid, Twilight sucks". And whether or not you like them, it's cool to read/be seen reading any of the four books in the series.
... But it's not cool to already HAVE read them... you know, like, have read Breaking Dawn when it came out 'cause you got it at a release party... That's what really pisses me off. I actually did something cool, before it was cool to do it, and I know more about it than any of the other people who are cool and doing it now... But yet, somehow I'm STILL not cool. |

I know how you feel. Well, not really, because I'm the only male in the whole school that reads the books. But, it's suddenly like every girl has started reading them and it's annoying not to be able to voice my oopinion while their all there huddled up in the corner talking about it.
What annoys me the most, is that they've seen the movie, I haven't, and I saw Madagascar 2 before it >_< |

That wouldn't really be an issue if it weren't for the insane fangirls... I don't think. At least, it wouldn't be as much of an issue and people would let it slide better. Insane fangirls really do ruin everything, don't they? |

I've finished the series, my school library surprised me- they rarely have books like that so soon.
Anyway, positives first. I liked several characters- Jasper, Jacob, Charlie, Leah, Angela. Hah- one from every species. [ Jacob's chapter's in the last book were a nice change too ] There were some funny lines in the dialogue here and there. Usually Alice talking with Edward, and Emmett with anyone. Something that annoyed me with the first book though (I'll try to keep this short, honestly) and I don't know if this has been mentioned before, is Bella's(or maybe Stephanie Meyer's, it's hard to tell) opinion of Forks and it's residents. I don't think anything positive is ever said about them. Bella sees them as narrow minded- "all the shock and condemnation of the small town"- with petty problems, simply because of where they live. I'm fairly sure no other reason is given or if there's an event which proves their narrow minded personality, other than a few moments with Jessica- just one person mind. The real issues of the story are saved for Bella and non-humans. I suppose that's how the story goes but it did look a bit biased towards immortality. It probably just gets to me because I live in a village, and by this book's logic I should be even more small minded than the Forks residents as a result. I wonder what the actual citizens of Forks thought of the book. [ I lied about the length. ] |

Gah, my friend got the film on her iPod somehow and I watched the first ten minutes at school.
It's so weird. Jacob's teeth are really white or something and Forks is nothing what I expected it to be... And it's just so... Weird! I'll have to get round to going to the cinema... |

I hear the people of Forks love it... or maybe they just love the sudden surge of tourists and money. It's hard to tell.
I sorta feel for you, since I live in the suburbs... it's very quiet and small-townish here. That means I'm narrow-minded too, doesn't it...? And niknnik: Why not just casually walk by and be all, "Yeah, Twilight is great, Jacob's an asshole though because..." That's what I do. Only not so casually. I'm more like, "OHMYGOD you're reading TWILIGHT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!???! What do you think, how do you like it..." But then that's just me. :-P |

In regards to the small town feel, I think it was just Bella venting about the fact that she has to go away from the big city and be with people she pre-judged as small-minded. Since this book is in her perspective, naturally the facts are going to be skewed and it will be biased towards immortality because that's what Bella finds attractive.

That's actually a very good point... I always thought of Forks to be a small little town as well. I always pictured the house to be smaller as well.
And seeing Charlie with a moustache is weird for me, even though it probably mentions it in the book. Not that it's of any significance or anything to do with Forks, but I always pictured him without a moustache. :/ |

Thank you. It's something I've learned when taking writing and literature classes. The narrator isn't always as reliable as we'd hope, and it's up to the readers to decide whether or not the narrator is telling the truth. It seems that people like lilliejean have caught onto that without really realizing it.

My thoughts exactly. Could have been better, could have been worse...
But I really like Twilight. So I saw it twice. :-) And the book is always better than the movie. The only exception is Stephen King's Christine. I liked the movie better than the book (and yes, I did read the book first!). And MrsSallyBakura: like in Edgar Allen Poe's The Cask of Amantilliano? (I think that's what it's called... I'm probably so wrong...) |

I didn't expect the film to be really good, they rarely are. But, it wasn't anything like I expected. It wasn't worse or better than I expected. In general, I did like it.
