This city is afraid of me. I have seen its true face. The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!'... and Gon's Balls will whisper 'First... comes... rock!' Hah! Made you stare at Naruto's Marshmallow! Pushing the logo off-center to drive TheOcean insane.

High School Musical: It's not that great! The story is weak and cliched and for a musical why does it only have 5 songs? Sure it's a Disney channel original movie so you can't expect it to be amazing, so why do people?

High School Musical is AWFUL. The only reason it seems popular is because they over advertise it and kids lap up advertising like sponges.

Harry Potter At least the first couple of them. I swear if the book hadn't come first people would have seen and thought "who did the screen play for this, it sux"

Yeah, Harry Potter is extremely overrated...but despite how terrible it is, people flock to movie theaters and give the films such a huge amount of profit that the producers continue making them in that terrible way.

Another overrated movie I have seen would be Brokeback Mountain. Everyone around me was always talking about how great the movie was, how deep and meaningful and inspiring it was, so I was rather excited at the prospect of watching a movie that breaks through society's taboos, but nevertheless I found it disappointing. Not to mention extremely, extremely boring.

Corpse Bride. I just don't see why it's so "good".
And Edward Scissorhands. It's just boring.
And Big Fish. That sucked.

Anything 3D/CGI not named Toy Story, the Incredibles or Final Fantasy is overrated.

Or, perhaps you just have a personal grudge against Tim Burton. For some reason.

Lord of the Rings: Return of the King seems overrated to me. Though it was good, it just doesn't compare to the first Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.

Yeah, and I already named then.

Shrek is not great, it's a marketing gimmick.
Finding Nemo is not great, neither is anything featuring anthropomorphic animals.
Cars sucks. Come on, give me a break.

I'm too tired to think of anything else right now, but when it comes to entertainment personal feelings trumps logic every time ^_^

I don't like a lot of those CGI films but those two were brilliant. How exactly is Shrek a marketing gimmick?

Firstly, the whole concept of Shrek appeals to ugly ducklings that never turn into beautiful swans, a.k.a. most of America.

Secondly, in case you haven't noticed, there is a marketing blitzkrieg that accompanies the release of each Shrek movie, and sometimes even when there isn't one.

As for Finding Nemo, watched it, don't see what the big deal is. Yawn.

Ok I see your point but it doesn't completely stick to the formula, in the end they both end up being hideous trolls. But ok I'll concede it is really a modern fairy tale but it's funny and appeals to such a wide audience on different levels, I've watched it dozens of times and never even thought about it as an ugly duckling story.
As for Finding Nemo, once again I know such a wide range of people that love it that it and they vastly out number those who don't. To borrow from iwatch2muchanime "over rated" and "popular" are not the same thing.

I think almost any movie based of a good book never lives up to the hype
Harry Potter and Lord of the rings for example

I hate High School Musical

The first Harry Potter and LOTR movies weren't bad. Even if you don't like the sequels you can't really say they were over rated, they were incredibly well made and the vast majority of the time people (myself included) are tempted just to notice all the things wrong with them as fans of the books. But as movies in their own right they are incredible.

I agree but with all the hype that was put on them because of the books it was a bit disapointing
I personly like the movies as movies but not in comparson with the books

I always feel Ring is a little overrated, ultimately better than it's Korean and American remakes, but I wasn't that impressed by the original.

AppleSeed is fine, Monster House is good, A Bug's Life is great, first Ice Age is great, Monsters Inc. was great (haven't seen it in a long time) and TMNT (for serious)

While on the otherside, the Final Fantasy films, aren't that great, well maybe Spirit's Within if it didn't have the FF name.

I saw this at one of my friends houses. She was like"WATCH THIS PART ITS SOOOO SCARY" I was "like you mean that when they look up there will be some scary thing?" And blam that little kid popped out. It was so predictable.

I found a few parts of The Grudge disturbing. The scene that still gives me chills is when the antagonist is dragging herself, barely climbing the stairs.

Anyone else think the Saw Series is overrated?

A little. They are pretty original and it's impressive how on movie #4 they're still independant, but really they aren't the most revolutionary horror films this century, and really only shock you on their gore, torture and gruesome factor, not on pure fear factor.
