Congratulations, Tim Burton... you've succeeded in obliterating another classic story. Will you be applying the same kind of techniques to your other films?
"oh yes, I have The Wizard of Oz up next for the slaughterhouse" gothic bastard >:V |

the 1985 made for TV movies were better than this thing Burton forced us to endure.
The only good movie he ever did, IMO was The Nightmare Before Christmas. |

I thought it was a piece of crap, with the vorpal sword looking like a Carrefour plastic sword, main character being disappointing, Johnny Depp playing a much less crazy person than Jack Sparrow, and the only fun character being the Cheshire Cat, really. The final fight sucked, the visual effects were OK but didn't really get too much into my mind.
When it comes to this new boom of 3D films, Avatar was soooo much better. Burton's best film will still remain this one. |

It's a movie and a book and...and...WHAT?!
Didn't like the children's books.
Never like the animated movie. And now we have this. I have to say, watching this was like being introduced to the new colors of Crayola's radioactive crayon set. The make up and consume are vibrant and hilarious. There are also an obvious attempt to make a boring story interesting. Yeah...didn't work. But wait! My friend tells me it's supposed to be...creepy? How is a drug-induced story supposed to be CREEPY? It should have been funny and AWESOME. But Lewis Carroll failed at that part in the story, and now we have Disney and Mr. Burton failing at that in this movie. I felt like I was watching a movie about clown school, there was so much face paint and wacky-creative costumes. Is it strange I want Alice's dress? Hmph. And like the Mad Hatter's look isn't an obvious rip-off from the Joker. And I saw this movie for free, people, though a club. I want my time back. So what does this movie have going for it? Well...if you're a tween that shops at Hot Topic and reads Twilight and has a crush on Jack Skellington--ask your mom to drive you and your friends to see this movie. It's leik full of lawls. If not...it'd probably be way more educational if you just smoked a joint if you haven't done so already. Then you can compare how much better of a story you can come up with than Carroll ever did. If you want to see it anyways...hm. Don't forget your cell phone so you can text during the showing when it gets boring. I mean, throughout the entire time. If you're a parent...well, yeah, it's rated PG. But if you taking children to see it, then I'll guarantee you they might be afraid at some of the odder looking beings. Not to mention most of the plot (huh, what?) will fly right over their heads. |

the books never were supposed to be scary
and since it was written in the mid 1800s, our modern drugs were not a part of its making it was more a kids story, mind you kids back then were smarter then ours are and now its for both adults and kids (not that kids, and even most adults can get it) the movie is one big repeat like all Tim Burtons movies tying to get the fan base Nightmare Before Christmas had and he's been trying to do that for 20 years same actors, same crap same stupid ideas |

I don't care what people or critics say - I thought it was fantastic.
The most enjoyable film I've seen in a while. |

As for Burton himself, well I am not his biggest fan by any means, but I do believe he has done some very deep and clever films, however he better at making his own teen-adult fantasies than he is at remaking others, because he likes to be his own man and those who see remakes normally like to see the original, so will always compare the two and will invariability like the first one more <shrugs> PS Ohera is there anything you do not enjoy? (PS and don't say you see things we don't as that is about as bad as my own last sane man alive comment lol) |

Yeah, he should stick to adult films. I liked Sweeney Todd(when people weren't dying).

it was supposed to be like that, because the play was like that
it was over dramatic, thats what made the play and thats kinda how it was supposed to be |

No, the musical wasn't that bloody. The musical and the movie aren't anything alike.

its a movie, course they're gonna over dramatise it movies do that |

There's plenty of movies that I don't like at all, trust me - I might be more lenient than most, though. I prefer just watching movies for what they are and enjoying them as much as I can without bias, prior assumptions or generalizations based on genre or plot, etc. I know perfectly well how to be critical, and saying that I love a movie doesn't at all mean that I think it's in any way devoid of its flaws, but I just don't really see how being overly critical of anything can end up leading to enjoyment.
