The one thing I didn't know, until I saw a few posts about it through Facebook, is that it uses a lot of your phone's data.

You can use your house's wifi and find some pokestops where wifi is available if it's an issue

I have a Windows phone so I can't play either. I'm not sure I really want to because Pokemon Go doesn't focus much on battling and thats really the only thing that appeals to me.

That is a bug on the iOS, and it is reversible. You don't have to share your gmail information with the game.

A friend of mine finally switched from a windows phone to an android phone to be able to play. Hopefully they will make improvements, or a future version, that allows for some more traditional features like battling

My brother-in-law has a shitty phone from MetroPCS and for a long time has refused to get service from AT&T or Verizon despite our advice... but since his phone doesn't support Pokemon Go, that might push him to getting a new phone lol

I'm not as sour about Apple now as I used to be. When I started college I was surrounded by people with Macbooks who insisted that Macs were superior to whatever other people were using because they don't get viruses. That was also Apple's advertising schtick back then, and it annoyed me because people treated PCs like they were virus machines that were guaranteed to crash your hard drive. It just wasn't the truth. Then several years later I was with some friends of a friend, and every single one of them had the latest iPhone. It creeped me out. lol

What must be said in Apple's favor is that it is able to do a much better job of keeping iDevices updated, compared to Android. With so many hardware manufacturers putting out android devices that can be used on numerous carriers, it seems to take forever for feature and security updates to actually end up on your device, if they ever actually do.

Yup, this is true, but it seems like it's just a natural consequence to having a mobile OS that has multiple manufacturers that allow the OS to be customized however they see fit.
