This city is afraid of me. I have seen its true face. The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!'... and Gon's Balls will whisper 'First... comes... rock!' Hah! Made you stare at Naruto's Marshmallow! Pushing the logo off-center to drive TheOcean insane.

I _love_ Douglas Adams. He has to be one of the cleverest authors ever.

My favourite is The Long Dark Teatime of the Soul.

how can anyone not love the man. He had the strange sence of humor and went off topic at odd times.

Douglas Adams is definitely one of my favourite authors. It's a shame he passed away because I'd have loved to meet him at least once, and I'd have loved to see Hitch-hiker's Guide finishing on a positive note like he wanted it to.

He was such an intelligently absurd author.

Not to mention absurdly intelligent!

I think he's really under-valued. Everyone should be required to read Hitchhiker's Guide.

It's a shame. Satire isn't as valued as much now compared to the 1800's during Mark Twain's lifetime. According to what we've been raised to believe if something is satirical or comedic it's not worth giving intellectual thought or attention to like the literary equivalent of fast food. Why else are all of the award winning children's books the ones with slightly (and I stress *slightly*) sad endings? Honestly, it doesn't take much to make a kid cry (then again it also doesn't take much more to make a kid laugh... wait scratch that, actually it's very easy to fail at making children laugh, I mean.... look at clowns. Yeesh). Yeah they might be more thought provoking than Run Jane Run but I believe the only series to ever break this mold was the Dr. Seuss books that were equal parts funny, surreal, sad, melancholy, AND still gave kids a proper moral to live by (depending on your world view).
