No, I'm off on [^_^] Island, it's a long, thin island in the ocean that's Westish or Northish from spawn

Can somebody please explain to me why someone might think that sharing a large hotel room with two people who are married and are your best friends would be considered awkward - if there is 100% trust that the married couple won't have sex during the trip.

I appreciate the joke but I am being serious here. All she's saying is, "I can't explain it but I know that I'm not changing my mind! It's just awkward and I don't understand why you want me to explain anything!"

I know it's not exactly in good taste to ask about this stuff on an anonymous forum but I need some alternative viewpoints here. I'm just trying to understand. I wouldn't force anyone to be in that situation but she is making a big deal about this for some reason.

Third wheel isn't an issue either. Boyfriend is coming. But they won't be married by the time they're on the trip so they aren't going to "sleep together."

I guess you just can't explain things sometimes? I don't like believing in that, though. There's always a reason for something...

Google wasn't much help either. I found one message board that asked people if they were comfortable sharing a hotel room with another couple, and the people who said no and gave a reason had reasons like privacy, space, desire to have sex, etc.

Weird thing is that she basically admitted that she would feel more comfortable staying in a hostel in separate rooms with the possibility of strangers staying nearby or even in the rooms? But not comfortable with sharing a room with friends who are married. That is what's wracking my brain. I wish I could enter her mind so that I could start writing down a thought process.

Perhaps she just has a strong preconception that married couples should always have their own hotel room, barring them having children of their own.

Societal conditioning can be pretty strong.

Of course, that being said, I don't know what the general consensus is where you live, let alone in her household.

She might also have ocd about sharing towels, or a wierd mole, epic snoring problems, or she knows she will have to summon dark forces in the middle of the night to protect herself from evil dead ghosts and doesn't want you possessed. Many reasons with that little of information
