I think that might have been just giving us a baseline for where thier powers start though. [ Also, Sanji officially reaching his dream makes me happy. ]

I wonder what is up with franky's head this episode though...i don't remember his hair being like a beetle snout before now...maybe that had to do with the buoyant wood stuff?

I assume next time they're top-side of the water they're going to have another run-in with Smoker. I wonder if its going to come to a head or just mark the official "half-way" point. I mean, at this point story-line wise logue-town was pretty much a quarter through the plot...not chapters by any means, but plot...kinda.

I have seen the anime as well. Some of the fillers were good but it wasn't the same knowing all of what was going to happen. Still enjoyed it because it's One Piece.

As for the movies I've only seen Strong World, which was great.

There's one which places Chopper's arc after Franky joins. While the battles themselves weren't that interesting at that point, the improved media made the sakura look absolutely amazing.

I've seen all but one of the movies, and they're really just hit and miss... watch each of them and decide whether you like them yourself or not.

So... if Luffy had 4 nakama and merry join after the east blue, and then another 4 and thousand sunny join in the grand line... does that mean his ship will be improved and he'll gain 4 more nakama in the new world?

A lot of the interesting things that have happened in the manga have happened precisely when nakama join... so can One Piece stay interesting even with only the characters in it now for another few hundred chapters?

1. Good god I hope not. We don't need another Bleach in this earth.
2. It depend on what your definition of "interesting" is. Interesting as in: cool locales with battles of epic proportions? Or.... The narrative will remain interesting, relevant, and maintain a decent pace without stopping to show off-you know what? Forget I said anything.

Oh shit, I just had the sudden urge to find out how strong Toby and Helmeppo have become by this point. They were actually improving the fastest out of ANYONE in the series thus far so I can only imagine how good they've gotten now. Obviously they won't hold a candle to their Strawhat counterparts, but for what it's worth they haven't been training their whole lives like most of these super powered characters have, so to transition from being non-combatants to Garp's lieutenants' is quite a feat. On the downside, that would, once again, distract from the main narrative so I'm inclined to feel a bit irked if Oda does decide to show us in a side-story-thing rather than just waiting until they actually meet again. Perhaps an episode from the anime can be used for just such a purpose.
