just finished watching this...is it a classic film...heck no...classic christmas film...certainly not, is it watchable...sure.
By now, everyone knows what they are getting into with this most famous duo of drugs, off the wall stupidity, nothing more, nothing less. Now the first film worked for the two reasons the second film was a train-wreck. 1=Everyone involved was having fun and knew what they were making. They weren't trying to do anything but have a laugh and so the audience didn't ask for much more and took the film as an original idea and light hearted fun. The second film however was not original and seemed like it wanted to make some kind of point; problem being the points it made had been made many a time before and by better writers and those involved knew it, so they seemed to lack the same humour and spark of the first film. They were not having fun. 2=The first film had a direction and knew where its a to b was, the second just seemed a mess of 1 shot scenes hacked together into a film. =This film however managed to recapture the heart of the first film and so though still stupid and far from classic with a few moments such as frozen dick, being 'just not funny' it worked and gave watcher cheap laughs it was made to give. It also recaptured the original feeling of the first by doing it as an adult Christmas film. Now adult Christmas films are far from new idea, but this knew that most of its viewers now will be in late teens to mid twenties and so still remember the corny x-mas films of 80's/90's from their youth and so made a corny x-mas film of 90's with drugs, hitting the nostalgia button and the cheap slap-stick one too and somehow it worked. In short, if you liked the first one, you probably will like this one, but if you were not a fan of this duo before, will not be one now ether. PS Neal Patrick Harries...legend
