This city is afraid of me. I have seen its true face. The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!'... and Gon's Balls will whisper 'First... comes... rock!' Hah! Made you stare at Naruto's Marshmallow! Pushing the logo off-center to drive TheOcean insane.

I wasn't sure whether I should place this in Off-Topic or Television, but anyways here it is.

Personally, I find Lewis Black the funniest. While he rants about everyday events, he brings up many excellent points. No other comedian I've seen can match his manic, out of control, style of stand up comedy. He seems just as angry and frustrated about life as most all of us are, and he makes no attempt to hide it.

That, my friends, is what makes him my favorite comedian.

Lewis Black is really funny, but my favorite is Chris Rock. I don't even know why, he just makes me laugh whenever I see him, whether in a movie, an act or a tv show..

Ah, yes, Robin Williams.

Have you seen the movie, Man of the Year? It may not be Movie of the year, but Williams (or his writers) does do some good stand-up in it. Unfortunately, that is about all that is good about it....

RUSSELL PETERS! He hasn't come out with new stuff in forever, but the material he DOES have is priceless.

Pablo Francisco is also great, as is Lewis Black. Jon Stewart is also incredible ^_^

Don't really watch stand up comedy, I just like it in general on TV shows, Movies, or Internet Shows.

I've always found Daniel Tosh to be Dane Cook's much much funnier alter-ego. Simply because he doesn't resort to yelling to get his dumb point across.

But then I've never dug Mencia, Cook, or Larry the Cable Guy. I'm just a comedy snob I guess. Anyways, I dig Demetri Martin, Lewis Black, David Cross, the Upright Citizens Brigade, the boys at Human Giant, Brian Posehn, Zach Galifianakis, Patton Oswalt, Maria Bamford....I could go on for a while.

Anyone who says Dane Cook needs to die. He isn't funny, and he talks like a child.

For a while I wasn't really into stand up but then last year someone showed me Dane Cook and I've been a big fan of his ever since. I even got to see him live last November which was really cool. Recently I started listening to Jim Gaffigan who also is hysterical.

Edit- At first I thought this thread was just for stand up comics but from judging by the other posts I guess its for comedic actors too? Well then; Will Arnet, David Cross, Steve Carell, Stephen Coblert, Tim and Eric, and Simon Pegg; to name a few.

Brian Regan. The guy is underrated but funny...and while I can appreciate dirty or shocking jokes and laugh at them until I cry, I appreciate his ability to be funny without resorting to vulgarity or being offensive. For example...
My absolute favorite, though, is Lewis Black. His style of humor is opposite Regan's but he's just...so...FUNNY. I saw him live in Las Vegas. Best night of the trip, hands down. It was awesome and I laughed until it hurt.

I also like Pablo Francisco, Dane Cook - why is everybody so freaked out about liking or hating this guy? - and Mitch Hedberg. Dave Chappelle most definitely has his moments as well.

Eddie Izzard! He sounds so serious.....despite the fact that he says the funniest things! Man, his shower monologue cracked me up! So underrated...

Stephen Lynch definetly, his humour requires a lack of sensitivity on the subjects and an appreciation of a new way to present vulgar material, but the end result will put you in stitches.

One of the other only comedians who can make me cry with laughter is Jim Gaffigan. His different voices, conversations with himself (doesn't sound too original but he does a good job with it) and his portrayal of the audience after each joke and espicially his great material makes him my favourite comedian.

I'll also say that Marcus Brigsctocke is halarious, as well as just about everyone who appears on the UK show Mock the Week, look for it on youtube.

Hard to decide really.
Eddie Murphy - Delirious and Raw are absoloute classics.
Bill Hicks - Probably one of the greatest comedians of all time, he just managed to say what everyone else was already thinking but was too afraid to say.
Robin Williams - Hilarious, even if he does look like he's on coke 90% of the time.
Billy Connelly - Insanely funny, foul mouthed comedy that you can watch with anyone without them getting offended. Even if his subject matter should make your gran blush he does it with such charm and a grin that you almost forget the subject matter. Really nice guy in person as well.

Jim Gaffigan no question, But I also like Brian Regan and if we are allowed to pick non-stand-up comedians: Stephen Colbert.

If it's internet only comedians, then theguywiththeglasses makes me laugh everytime. Originally known on youtube for his 5secondmovies, he now mostly does comedy sketches and mock reviews with his character 'The Nostalgia critic'.
