I love Avatar the last airbender. I love the plot, and characters. Zuko is awesome. Anyway, has everyone seen the finale.

Me. It was a sweet finish. Epic. Nothing to pick at. Except maybe that we never found out about Zuko's mother, but everything else was tied up perfectly.

Well, maybe it'll be on the DVD

But it was there, originally? Well, that makes me feel a little better. I understand that due to time constraints, Nick was unable to air the full finale, but quite frankly I was pissed that the focus of so many episodes was just cut out from the plot entirely. I agree with GreyFox that it'll most likely be on the DVD as deleted scenes. So, at least we'll know what was supposed to happen. My one concern is that it might not be finished (could be done as a sketch board), but I suppose I'll still be satisfied with whatever.

Avatar! In my opinion the best cartoon series they've made in the last 10 years or so... but I haven't seen every cartoon series from the last 10 years :p
I don't know if anyone mentioned it before (I'm too lazy to read everyone's comments before posting one of my own :p ), but they're going to make Avatar live action movies (or so I've heard). I seriously have my doubts if the movies are going to be as good as the series... oh well. We'll just have to go and watch them then ^^ |

Holy crap! I love this show!!!!! And Zuko is awesome. Except in season one and the beginning of season two. Because of the stupid hair. Hehe. I'm kind of a fangirl. Of Zuko.
But anyway, I love the plot and everything! I also like the whole idea of the manipulating elements and stuff. I think it's kind of cool. I'm so obssesed, in fact, that when I was reading Breaking Dawn and there was that vampire that could manipulate the elements I instantly thought of Avatar and it officially made Breaking Dawn my favorite book in the whole Twilight series (Until I red the partial manuscript for Midnight Sun). I'll shut up now. lol. |

Avatar Movie Rant
Cast List for The Last Airbender is as follows: Noah Ringer will play Aang Jackson Rathbone will play Sokka Nicola Peltz will play Katara Jesse McCartney will play Zuko... ... What...The...@#$#$@^&^*#%#$@$^! This is a cast from HELL! M. Night Shyamalan! How could you! If you have ever in your life watched an episode of the Nick TV show "Avatar", you could clearly see that it takes place and is based upon ANCENT CHINA and its surrounding areas. Are you mental? What the heck? And as if the scenery didn't clue you in enough, here's another little fact for you to consider: Almost everything having to do with Aang (The Avatar) has to do with BUDDHISM, HINDUISM or TAOISM, which last time I checked, were not religions practiced in ancient EUROPE, where, science tells us, all WHITE PEOPLE came from to begin with ! So just what the %^&# are a bunch of white kids doing in Asia? How are you going to tie that into the story? Let me guess, you’re going throw in one of your famous plot twists! I for one am shocked! I never would have guessed that! Listen , I can understand you wanting to twist and turn your own work like a roller coaster ride from Hell, but when you screw work that’s not yours to begin with, you’re pretty much insured to piss off the entirety of the fan world, (most of which, need I remind you, are children ages 8-12 who have little Katara dolls and Aang and Zuko action figures, all of which are ASAIN in appearance). You are going to completely change the image (not to mention the title) of this wonderful program in the minds of millions, and NOT for the better! In short, this picture is a joke to both fans and casual watchers alike. A film that’s sure to make a mockery of the creative and revolutionary world of “Avatar”. And to anyone reading this, I fully encourage and endorse an official boycott of Shyamalan’s “The Last Airbender”. As far as I am concerned, any and all those who endorse this atrocity are no better fans then someone who has never seen the show to begin with. Lastly I say to you Mr. Shyamalan this one word: SHAME. You have taken the pillars of greatness and forcibly caused their crumble and decay. Woe to all those who bravely stand behind your pitiful shadow of perceived achievement, for it is not one meant to last long. You have been on your last leg for years, and now, finally, your career can be put out of its misery. May it rest in peace. |

So they're white. Thats quite disappointing. I mean, Aangs the only one close to white. He could of worked a bit harder to make things accurate. Or are people so anti multi cultural that they can't watch a movie with a foreign lead. I dunno.

Im just not gonna go see it. If box office sales go down, they'll try to change whatever was wrong. I hereby establish a boycott of the liveaction movie!!

It's a completly logical choice to put white lead when you're a bunch of white people making a movie targeted at more white people :P Not to mention that only the water tribe doesnt even looks white. The Air Nomad's culture is inspired in Asian cultures but as i said it's a good idea to cast a white guy so white kids relate to him better. Water tribe shouldnt be played by white people, Fire kingdom could be played by anyone the same goes for Earth kingdom. But i do think that making a full white cast and not having any diversity is messed up, especially with the water tribe.
About the cast(im judging by looks here since i dont really know any of them): Noah Ringer: I dont like him :P choosing a white kid is one thing, but a big muscular guy as Aang? Jackson Rathbone: He looks like a good choice. Nicola Peltz :Fugly Jesse McCartney : I dont see him as Zuko at all, doesnt looks like a good choice to me. |

I was wodnering how long it would take for this to be brought up. I wonder who was in charge of the casting decisions. A casting director, right?
#802
Yeah, but the director (M. Night Shamalan) has qquite a say in it too.
#803
Quite a say? I think that goes without saying considering he's the writer of the screenplay, the producer, and the director. Hell, he might as well just go ahead and be head of the whole damn movie! Oh wait...he is...well, I certainly hope he doesn't do one of his little "cameos" in TLA. Remember "Lady in the Water"? He was Vick Ran...as if the film wasn't bad enough, he had to come in and totally (metaphorically) murder the star studded cast ( Paul Giamatti, Bryce Dallas Howard, ect). What if he did cast himself? Wouldn't that be a tad bit contradicting to an all Caucasian cast? I suppose he could be the guru/ chokura guy, as he appeared to be Indian anyway. But, then again, wouldn't the same thing go for the portrayal of an Inuit Sokka and Katara? They are suppose to look as dark as the guru, and yet in the film, they won't be (unless they use 5 tons of tan in a can on each). Does that mean there will be no Shamalan cameo? Maybe the movie won't be that bad after all...
... Ok, it's still gonna be terrible no matter what...too bad...Oh well, I'm not going to see it anyway. I suggest any true fan do the same in honor of Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. In my honest opinion, they're the ones who should have cast the movie, as they created the characters anyway. |

I'm reserving judgment.

I didn't really have much faith in the movie to begin with, so the casting was not really a letdown for me. But I do find the discussion about whether it is racist or not interesting.

The worst part is, someone with a say in who gets cast is gonna do something by making the rest of the cast Asian and Hispanic and Inuit and whatever else, making the main four seem EVEN WHITER!!! And Jesse Mcartney =Zuko= Singing Zuko?
#807
Please tell me you're kidding about the whole "Singing Zuko" thing. And I suppose that casting all Asian and Inuit extras would be an awkward background for an all white leading cast to blend in with. Speaking of which, I wonder why the cast is all white. I understand that there are a lot of white people in America and Canada, but still. Was Jesse McCartney really the best they could find? Did no one else audition? I don't get it...

Even though he's too old, I still think Dante Basco would have been the best choice. After all, he still looks dead young and it is a movie adaptation so there's no big deal in Zyko looking older IMO.

I agreed with that too but apparently M. Night Shamalan didn't...that bastard! He's anti-Asian and he's from India which is an Asian country! How the hell does that even work? I say he saves himself a lot of trouble and offs himself right now!

Maybe he thinks that white people will relate to the characters more if they were played by white actors.
