This city is afraid of me. I have seen its true face. The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!'... and Gon's Balls will whisper 'First... comes... rock!' Hah! Made you stare at Naruto's Marshmallow! Pushing the logo off-center to drive TheOcean insane.

Default Myth: Nintendo games are too easy nowadays

Play the Perfect Run from SMG2 and not get a single game over.

Just try completing World 9-7 of New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Also, try getting all three Star Coins.

There's a trope called "Nintendo Hard", and it's named that for a reason...

I agree that Nintendo games aren't easy, but they are much easier now than they have been in the past. Looking over my NES collection, I can't say I have beaten a single one completely. Nowadays, it is the norm to be able to beat a game. It may not be easy, but its not borderline impossible like it used to be.

PS: Metroid: Other M -> hard as hell!!! Before i played that i liked the idea of a shooter on WII, but now... The targeting is nearly impossible if you havenīt reflexes like a predator!

I haven't played any head-banging hard games recently but N64 games are the first games I think of that make me go "GRR I wanna throw this out the window!". Maybe it was because I was younger. I keep playing a game until I win. Though I don't always go for 100%. The first game that comes to mind is Mario Tennis, surprisingly.

I'm totally thinking Kid Icarus here. And Super Metroid.

Apparently, both were the brain-children of Gunpei Yokoi.

It's GOOD that their getting easier. Then I won't have to spend several frustratingly long hours trying to beat pixels. =/

Argh, Kid Icarus. It took me about 3 hours to get to level four, and after another few hours of trying to figure out where the bloody hell I was meant to go I ended up quitting out of sheer frustration.
I think the general difficulty of their more recent games are perfectly fine.

Well, you made it farther than me, I gave up on Kid Icarus in 10 minutes.

I made it halfway through Super Metroid before giving up. Mind you, I barely made it that far using a strategy guide and I still got stuck.

You have to be like a goddamn Nobel prize winner, a child prodigy with an IQ of 140, or an intuitively good at brain teasers to figure out some of the puzzles in that game. I'm actually impressed by anyone that can complete Super Metroid without a strategy guide.

Ooh, Super Metroid. I played it when I was 7. Couldn't even leave the area where you get the item to turn into a ball.

I didn't find Super Metroid nearly as hard as the original NES Metroid, personally - I did finish it without a walkthrough. The first time I played it was after 100% completing Fusion and Zero Mission, though, so I'd had some experience in understanding how the games work.

I would honestly prefer games to be reasonably hard, as in I don't die because the game is being cheap.

I started playing those this week. Figuring out where the passageways are is already annoying.

Oh, and SMG? Piss off tedious Purple Coin Stars....especially the one in the ghost galaxy.

I submit for your evaluation Donkey Kong Country Returns, the only game I've played in a long time where I've lost more than 20 lives in a level.

Luigi's Purple coins was infuriating. I completed the whole game other than that in a few months on and off playing, and stayed with just that to do for about a year. And then I had to do it with Luigi Ž_Ž

I just got Metroid: Other M and God it's hard. Several times I have died multiple times on minibosses, and I had to use a walkthrough to find pathways in Sector 1. Damn it's hard. But when you do manage to beat something hard, it looks bloody awesome.

Just to follow this up, the Squid (last last boss) is damn near impossible, I actually found it harder than Ridley, and in this game, Ridley was pretty damn hard.
