This city is afraid of me. I have seen its true face. The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!'... and Gon's Balls will whisper 'First... comes... rock!' Hah! Made you stare at Naruto's Marshmallow! Pushing the logo off-center to drive TheOcean insane.

The only musical i've actually enjoyed start to finish, even Hello Kitty enjoyed it.
Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter were up to usual awesome standard of acting.
and the gore was awesome, what did you think.

I went into this film with pretty low expectations, as i'm not a particularly big fan of Tim Burton's films (excluding Big Fish, which is actually one of my favourite films). I felt that it was certainly at a high in the middle of the movie..But i felt that the Beggining and Ending were very poorly done.

Must get around to seeing it soon

In my opinion, I disliked it... very much... but then, I dislike Tim Burton's style... I don't know what it is, I can't put my finger on it, I just don't like the style of movies that Tim Burton makes.

I loved it, for a musical it was superb ^_^ johnny depp was marvelous and he managed to do something alot of American actors fail to do properly, he mastered a british accent, a londoner no doubt
I never saw the stage show though, i think that would have been utterly intriguing LOL

Definitely one of my favorite movies. Or maybe I'm just a gore hound. Or a Johnny Depp fan. Still, I thought this movie was beautiful.

I wasn't really expecting it to be a musical myself. Granted, I don't dislike musicals, but I didn't care for the lyrics of the songs. To me they seemed to forced and just didn't seem to fit well. Though I did enjoy the basis for the story. I'm kinda in the middle on this movie.

The blood was great! It reminded me of the old anime days when blood flowed like a fountain. It didn't disturb me as much as some movies...like the ruins...**Shivers**

Sweeney Todd is like My Little Pony compared to other movies. Like The Hills Have Eyes, for example.

Then I'm afraid you missed the point of the movie. The hills have eyes, Hostel, House of 1000 corpse, Texas Chainsaw massacre, My bloody Valentine, The Ruins (the list goes on but ill stop there) Those movies are all pointless "Blood and Gore" movies

Halloween, Friday the 13th, Child's play, Pumpkinhead, Nightmare on Elm street, Scream, House of wax, The Hitcher- All "Slasher" movies

House on haunted Hill, Skeleton key, Boogymen, Ghost Ship, Final Destination, Drag me to Hell, Rest Stop - All "thrillers"
(Sadly I didn't google any of these, I knew them off the top of my head, and yes Ive also seen them all and own most)

Sweeney Todd is none of those - Its a musical based on something tragic yes, but scary not at all which is what Tim Burton was going for that's why the blood in the movie wasn't realistic. In the beginning is a good example also when the blood shoots everywhere when he cuts the persons neck is other.

The Beginning i will agree with you there - they really didn't need that song.

But The ending was amazing - If you didnt notice Sweeney saw Toby coming and lifted his head up so the Toby had a clear shot of his neck to kill him cause he didnt want to live knowing that A- his wife was still alive, B- She went insane and C - He killed her. and of course D - Joana was gone from his life forever

I had to sing that damn Joanna song in a production.
It is harder than the cold hard hand of denial (which is in de egypt by the way).
Musically, it was excellent, story, likewise.
Although epic respect to the casting directoe and the actors for nailing the characters so well, especially with Alan Rickman's lecherous judge and Sacha Baron Cohen's show stealing showman.
One damn good film, a damn good film!
Damn one good film!
Film one damn good!

Not as good as Sin City though...

Hey - I've already said earlier in this topic that Sweeney Todd is my all time favorite movie. I wasn't merely pointing out that gore makes a movie good - I was just saying, is all.

I know it's not a horror movie - that's not what I meant, either. I just pointed out what I did because some people had said they had issues with the sight of seeing blood.
I compared it to The Hills Have Eyes - the only movie that I couldn't sit through without feeling sick to the core. And believe me, I've got a really strong stomach, but seeing a pigeon have it's head chewed off (by a human, for gods sake), blood sucked up and body torn apart isn't something I want to see ever again (not to mention I'm heavily against animal cruelty...).

Epic, nuff said
the linguistics of Johnny depp and his ability to sing were just one of the great qualities of this film. i know it was an old theatre stage show that had seen many an applause from people who had seen a stage show before the movie was made in 2007
