Normally this would be the part where I give an update on my goings on or make a quip and leave but as a matter of fact I'm not in the mood. My life over the past two and a half months have been hell. My birthday is in 3 days and yet I'm in no mood to celebrate. Two and a half months ago the best friend I've ever had in my life betrayed me and left me a broken, shell of a man. A month after that, my attempts to have closure and end our friendship on my terms were stubbornly refused.
How would you feel if you asked your best friend what you are to them, and they told you that you're not really a friend. That you're just someone they can talk to about the worst thing that ever happened to them.... that thing you both experienced that made you understand one another. How used would you feel? What a treacherous and cruel thing to say. This isn't the first time I've been hurt by a friend. I'll always have the strength to stand back up, brush myself off, and be on my way, but in the past, I've had others to help and support me. I should not have been so foolish as to put such investment into a single individual whilst my older, more stable friendships decayed into obscurity. I have had so much time to think about this and yet I feel no closer to finding an answer. It's probably best not to dwell on the past. I guess a good start would be to invite my old friends over for my birthday. At least it's an excuse to see them again.

Thanks for the well-wishing. I am feeling better and it always helps to know that regardless of your friends, you'll always have family to help you through hard times. You might not "like" them, and bickering might be the norm while you're around them, but you still love them and they love you.
