This city is afraid of me. I have seen its true face. The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!'... and Gon's Balls will whisper 'First... comes... rock!' Hah! Made you stare at Naruto's Marshmallow! Pushing the logo off-center to drive TheOcean insane.

Hmm...I'm only gonna comment on the Megaupload thing. Anyway if the accusations were unproved I'm pretty sure the owners are going to demand further investigation, right? And if not them someone will.

That's just what's going through my mind right now after reading that article

In other words, many SOPA opponents were confused and even shocked when they learned that the very power they feared the most in that bill — the power of the U.S. Government to seize and shut down websites based solely on accusations, with no trial — is a power the U.S. Government already possesses and, obviously, is willing and able to exercise even against the world’s largest sites
Sometimes I ask why the bill was made anyways, but alrighty. Suit yourself, government.

I've never seen that article floatin' around tumblr, but I've seen plenty of other things involving SOPA/PIPA/ACTA and Megaupload.

Also, doesn't Megaupload not only have piracy but money laundering shenanigans? Still in trouble for something in the end... .3.;

As far as I know SOPA and PIPA have both been shelved. Don't know what's up with ACTA 'cuz I only heard about it through deviantart earlier today.

Yeah, from what I've heard (because I haven't actually read any of the articles anywhere about the Megaupload thing), there were rackets and money laundering going on, this being the main reason they were shut down. I also heard that they were fixing their own top 10 or whatever it is to change who got money. Finally, apparently whenever they were asked to take down copyrighted material that was uploaded there, they never properly took it down, only removing that link that was at the center of the dispute. That meant that the file in question was still up for downloads.

This is the reason I never got excited over SOPA in the first place. The US government doesn't give a shit about whats legal and just does whatever the hell it wants. Because who's going to stop them? Sometimes I wish another country would invade us and replace our government with an effective one. Anyone from Sweden want to get their government to come kick our ass?

I think Little Kuriboh has the right idea here. Just keep doing what your doing and ignore all this bullshit to the best of your ability. This is not going to stop me from breaking any law I find inconvenient and I'm going to keep pirating until I'm unable to do so.

well the bill got shelved so shouldn't be so cynical for no reason killshot.

This bill was put forward for simple reason; product control. Piracy actually has little to do with it, if they wanted to control piracy, they would have just made it more legal and jumped on the very profitable love-film buisness model.

=Basically the reason movie business model was complete control over when the movie was shown and where; which allowed them to basically tell customers what to do and how much had to pay to get product and customers basically had no choice but to agree or not get product. This back in dark ages of only being able to see movies at pictures, but over the years this ideal has been diluted; first mass tv's, then video players, then dvd's and now internet.

Each one, meant that this control got less and less, with customers get more and more control over when and where could use product; such control or lack of it, for movie makers meant they could no force the customers to pay whatever wanted for product as product became more competitive. The internet has basically removed any control movie makers have over when and where customers see film as now, they can see it before even released if know right people and generally for free. The means the death of old business model and raise of new business model which seen rise of facebook and google...etc. This is basically the old guards last attempt at saving their old business model.

Now I used film business because easiest example, but this actually goes across a lot of business areas.

If SOPA ever passes, it will mean basically all information is controlled by patriots lol

I Never got excited over SOPA either. I signed maybe one petition just for the hell of it but for the most part I was very doubtful that it would pass...even from the start

And Fared you have an excellent point

Anyway...

Ron Paul was against it the whole time. Santorum and Gingrich waited to see what would become of the opposition then joined it when it became powerful enough to shelve it. Romney was also cautious.

Libertarians ftw.

I hate to say this, because he probably won't get the Nom.
I like Ron Paul, and if he'd run as an independent, I'd vote for him for president.
I hate the other Republicans running. And OBama has driven this country to hell in W. Bush's handbasket. George W. Bush failed as president, and O'Bama continued that fail.

Are you kidding me? Mitt is a politician in every sense of the word, but Santorum is the worst form of authority figure. He thinks he's on some kind of moral crusade against evil. He is in favor of banning pornography for fucks sake. Say what you want about Romney, but I've never seen him advocating the enforcement of thought crime. If Santorum wins the election, I'm joining Al-Qaeda.

And to those supporting Ron Paul, he's not the savior he's made out to be on the internet. He's an unhinged lunatic with a hand full of good ideas. If he's elected, none of his good ideas will ever see legislation and we'll be stuck with some retarded shit like changing the nation's currency to solid gold coins.

My views on all the candidates in the presidential race.

O'Bama = worst president in history
Romney = Mini O'Bama
Gingrich = Blow hard, whose sole purpose is to amuse the press
Santorum = mini Romney wrapped in medieval Crusadey goodness
Ron Paul = Older than dirt, but at least he has a genuine sense of humor.

I don't like any of the people running in this election, I'm writing in Stephen Colbert for President, with Jon Stewart as Vice president. It's the only thing that makes any kind of political circus.

How exactly is Obama the worst president in history? He's ineffective, sure, but how is he worse than Bush or Reagan?

If Romney wins the nomination, I'm going to put some serious thought into voting for him. The fact he is saying anything it takes to get the Republican nomination doesn't matter to me. I won't fault him for swindling the ignorant masses who can't be bothered to vote for their own interests if it means doing those people some good. I'm holding out hope Romney is still the same liberal governor of Massachusetts and that also wasn't a ruse to get elected. If Obama can reveal himself to be a moderate conservative halfway through his term, I see no reason Romney can't do the opposite. I'm probably wrong about him, but it's a better idea than my previous plan to not vote and hope everyone else does the same.

Bush was an idiot and an asshole more concerned with Oil and impressing Daddy to be anything but useful.

TBH, I don't know who I hate more in our government. This congress or O'bama. O'bama for the bloated white elephant known as O'bamacare, all the useless and stupid spending, or the sheer lack of interest in doing anything useful. Congress for all the bitching and fighting because they allowed all this useless spending to go on, only to turn around cut funding to more important stuff like Medicare and Medicaid and borrow and borrow more money from China to the point that soon neither China nor anybody else will want it soon and to think that this SOPA bullshit is even worthy of discussion. Veto the damn SOPA and PIPA bullshit and do something right for once in your short political lives.

Between my hate of the O'bama and Congress, O'bama kind of edges out congress because according to the checks and Balances system our government has in place O'bama should be trying to do something useful in terms of making sure the US does the shit it's supposed to do. He is our leader.

The difference is that the left-wing media attempted during his entire campaign to make Obama appear to be the BEST President of all time, ignoring every association that would've made a President like Nixon appear to be far more evil than he was.

As for Nixon, the only difference between him and other Presidents is that he got caught doing what he did. I'm sure Obama's guilty of a lot of stuff too, and it's dishonest to pretend everything he does is right. There are a lot of people who simply don't pay attention, true, but that doesn't mean it's alright for people to pretend he's innocent when they DO find out about wrongdoing on his part.

*Clears throat*

Bill Ayers. They knew each other personally, and that's all I need to draw an association. Bill Ayers said they were neighbors and family friends. Bill Ayers made a donation to his campaign. Bill Ayers held a fundraiser with him. And Bill Ayers is a very naughty man. Boom boom. Boom boom.

lol Yeah, him and pretty much every other president. His crime was lying under oath about it.

As far as doing presidential type things, in the last 40 years, Bill Clinton has had the most positive record in reducing the deficit for starters on a very successful list of things.

That being said, he is a lying cheating bastard. Welcome to politics!

Yeah I also know he lied under oath

I think Lincoln and Reagan did a pretty good job, actually...well from what I read in History books at least.

And why forget our dear President Washington?
