Most Overrated Game

What is the most overrated game you can think of.

Sadly, I'm going to says Super Mario Galaxy. I expected much more from this game. It was ok, but not as good as Sunshine.

Out of the games I've played, I'd say Ocarina of Time. I understand how it was a revelation at its time, but it just doesn't impress me much.

I think the reason thir are a lot of over rated games is because some are just advertised way too much and recieve lots of publicity. As for over rated games, can't think of any in particular, but lots of game has some element that has been stressed far more than it deserves to be.

Super Smash Bros, seriously I might have just pre-judged it before because well I hate Nintendo fanboys and like watching them over react, but I finally played it up my mates the other day and it's just not that good. Ok it is a fanboys wet dream with all the chracters but the gameplay is as dull as dishwater.

I liked them but not up the point of hating every other game in the series for no reason

I would have to say Paper Mario - The Thousand Year Door. I enjoyed playing it, but I certainly don't think it was as fantastic as people made it out to be. I will admit, I haven't played any of the other Paper Mario games, so I don't know if they're better or not.

I will say, I played Ocarina of Time when it first came out, and at the time, I hadn't played a game that even came close to it's amazingness. But, I can easily see where you could find it to be overrated.

Yeah, truth. The popularity of the Halo series which is mediocre at best is roughly the same mass as the universe and everything in it.

Hmm...I know a lot of overrated movies. Games are harder. I would go with Halo definately. Metal Gear Solid 2 was pretty overrated. Final Fantasy XII at least from the press, I have yet to hear anyone actually say they liked it.

Oh, and basically every really hard NES game that his been put on a list by any asshole with a website instead of games made after 1993.

All Halo Games.
All Madden Games.
All Dead or Alive games.
All Final Fanasy games.
Call of Duty 4.
All Super Smash Brothers games.
Really, most of the "Overrated" Games are the "System Sellers".

I say the Mario Party series was overrated. I mean, seriously, 8 regular additions plus a DS game? It's a bit much, don't you think?

That's totally true, i think all the "famous" games are overrated; usually the best games, the underrated games, are those no one knows about.

Halo was genuinely groundbreaking, but because of it we have so many clones of it. The original Halo is not the slightest overrated, people who hadn't played Halo before Halo 2 had no idea what they missed. Dead or Alive games aren't rated well at all. Final Fantasy aren't overrated at all I think, FFVII has become overrated because of all the related media.

I'd consider an overrated game a shit game that still has a fanbase.

Super Mario Bros. 3. It's a good game, but at times it's UNFORGIVABLY (sp) hard

As for me, I say that FF7 and the Metroid games are kinda overrated. I just can't get into them.

Smash Bros, I guess. Most games that are overrated are good anyways, so I don't really see the point of saying whether or not it's overrated. I mean, as long as it's a fun game, right?

Oh I HATED XII. Crap story, and Crap Gameplay. The NES and SNES FF games were quite epic. Also, FF VII in my opinion is not overrated, but Advent Children is.

Also, to post 1: I prefered Galaxy to Sunshine, It had far better level design. And no Super Soaker. I think I'm done here.

Final Fantasy on NES were pretty suck. The ones on SNES were pretty good and I still regard VI as the best Final Fantasy.

XII catered for a different taste, some loved it some hated it.

I think you just hate them because you sucked at them. I will admit they are pretty hard, but I've never let that get in the way of my enjoyment of a game(See Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden).
