This city is afraid of me. I have seen its true face. The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!'... and Gon's Balls will whisper 'First... comes... rock!' Hah! Made you stare at Naruto's Marshmallow! Pushing the logo off-center to drive TheOcean insane.

Going through TV Tropes reminded me of two moments from Xenosaga III.

The first was a sad/creepy moment when child Shion was trying to put the blood back.

The second one was a sad-in-a-kind-of-pathetic/awesome moment of Allen standing up to Kevin.

At the final boss of Okami, [ Amaterasu has all of her powers taken away by the embodiment of darkness, Yami (and no, I don't mean Dan Green). Everyone back on Earth begins to worry about Ammy since the sun has dissapeared, but Issun (who was left behind) manages to spread the word about Ammy's situation and encourages everyone to pray. This causes Ammy (who, again is fighting Yami on the Ark of Yamato and regain her full power, becoming Okami Shiranui! Right then, the sun rises. This incredibly powerful scene, combined with the music, makes you want to shout something along the lines of "YEAH! LET'S DO THIS! I'm not joking, this entire cutscene is really touching. If you haven't played Okami by now, then you have no excuse. ]

When Prince Pelleas, from Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn [ has to die.
The really sad part about it is that, he thought dying would save the counrty, but him dying wouldn't even stop it the Blood Contract.
So, he sorta died for no reason.

Ooh! I have one. This is my first post, too.
In Earthbound, when everyone prays for the safety of Ness and friends. That was beautiful.
Also, in FF4 when Tellah dies after casting Meteor. And when Yang "Sacrifices" himself to stop the cannon from hitting the dwarves. And... well, pretty much ALL of the character's sacrifices. Especially when Edward got out of bed so he could play the harp and help against the dark elf.
And I've saved the best for last. In MOTHER 3 at the end where [ You find out that Claus is still alive and was being controlled by Porky as the masked man. Claus kills himself in a moment of sanity to save Lucas and shares his last moments with his twin brother and dies in Lucas's arms just before he has to gather his remaining strength to walk alone to the top of the mountain to pull the very last needle. ] That was the most beautiful moment in gaming history. After that, every time I hear the theme of love I tear up.
And I'm a guy. Guys aren't even SUPPOSED to cry.
And I don't normally.

A lot of FF fans will say when Aeris dies...

I just laugh.

In fact, I lost the battle so I could see her ass die again.

In Meryl's ending of MGS when Otacon tells Snake that he'll stay in the complex so he can open the doors for Snake. But the place never gets bombed, so it isn't sad after you know that. <img src='/images/emoticons/smiley1.png'>

The first american Fire Emblem game on the GBA, when Eliwood unknowingly kills Ninian as a dragon, then she transforms back to normal and dies in his arms.

Also, in Prey, when you have to kill Jen because the aliens disfigured her into a crazy space-monster-thing. The saddest thing was that Jen was fully aware of everything and even begs you to shoot her.

Cloud Was Out Of It For Most Of The Journey Even Though He Seems To Understand What Has Happened At The End. I Didn't Understand It A Lot Either. My Guess Is That The Death Of Zack Traumatized Him And So He Pushed It To The Back Of His Mind...Just A Guess.

Star Wars Force Unleashed Ending Was Sad Even Though You Knew What Would Happen

Number 1: Aeris death (Cliched but it still is the only game scene that caught me off guard AND made me cry)
Number 2: Godot's Breakdown at the end of Bridge to the Turnabout in Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations (It was just brilliantly written)
Number 3: FFX ending (It was bittersweet and had a tone of seriousness)
Number 4: Kingdom Hearts ending (it was just emotional)
Number 5: Rinoa in space from Final Fantasy VIII (It edged so close to perfection, but lost it when she came back)

It's not the fact that it's pixels, it's the stories and the situations. It'd would be the same as asking why a person would cry during a movie, reading a book, or listening to music. Some things are just so touching to certain people that it brings out things we like to call emotions. Most humans have them.
