Zombie Genesis: The Forum Game - Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Abridged Series

Zombie Genesis is a game revolving around a dynamic story. Players sign up with a description of their character and, based on their interactions with a pre-made skeleton storyline, I write up stories about what their characters go through within a set time frame. This is generally thirty minutes to an hour but is by no means a concrete amount of time. (i.e., exactly 37 minutes and 47 seconds to do whatever actions you planned to do)

All players stories do proceed in synch with each other, however, so everybody has the same amount of time to work with.

The goal of the players is whatever they decide it is. The story is predicted to be several hundred pages long, if not longer, by the time the players reach the end of the pre-determined book scenario. How the book turns out can be much different than the skeleton storyline would have turned out. This is because the players are effectively the main characters and can thus alter the storyline tremendously.

Regardless, the first of these three books, Zombie Genesis (hence the name), will take place across a Tutorial and 7 Stages, no more, no less.

If all the players die during a stage, the game will still proceed to the next stage regardless of the consequences of the players' death. Because there are no repeats, the players' actions are especially important, so think carefully on what you want to do.

Results tend to take longer for this game than other forum games. This is due to several factors including but not limited to my responsibilities in real life, the other forum games I run here and the fact that results can easily run over 50 pages long. Take advantage of the extra time to read results at your own pace. You can get by simply reading your own results, but the results of other players can often yield important information about what's going on. For instance, if another player in a different part of the same city you are in just got killed by Cthulhu, you'd probably want to be aware of that.

On a related note, often times, players are in close proximity to each other, or otherwise are in a position to have great impacts on the results of other players. This means that I cannot write results for some players without the actions of other players being submitted. At least, not without running the very high risk of having to rewrite large sections of results because somebody submitted an action that affects other players and did so after I finished writing said other players' results. So, it's fine if you decide to take your time to think about your action before posting it, but you can expect results to be delayed by an amount of time roughly equivalent to the extra time you took to make an action.

The below Spoilers contains the background information and inventory of each player.

Name: Will
Age: 20

Appearance: Glasses, Jeans, grey t-shirt with "Sarcasm isn't my only talent" on it, running shoes, a black hoodie, a silver chain link bracelet on the left wrist, and an iron cross necklace.

Distinguishing Features: A small scar running almost horizontal just above his left eye, lazily combed back slightly longish dirty blond hair, running 5 o'clock shadow, a strangely tall body that looks way too slender in those clothes to be able to support the parts you can see, perpetually wearing earphones, and two small cut scars on the back of his left hand near the wrist.
Inventory: an Iphone, a Nintendo 3DS, three 16 GB USBs, a pair of Karate Gloves, and a swiss army knife.

Backstory: Almost none. Just appeared naked in a field about a year ago when a couple of high school students ran over his prone body while driving out to have sex after their prom. She dumped the guy he was with the second he saw his 20 charisma and guitar hero with extra star power. As a form of revenge, the guy called an ambulance and drove home without his date. The paramedics arrived and found two prone naked bodies, one of which went for the only articles of clothing present. Ever since then, Will has been working as an orderly to pay off his medical bills and legal fees for "statutory rape." He was able to get a room with a credit card left at the scene with most of the name scratched off and food courtesy of the girl who found him, named Liz, in exchange for a place to crash when her dad complains about credit bills or when she just feels like catching a repeat for that first date. Still, for one year, he's been just going through the paces. He has no real memory or identity. The only thing he can remember is one name: "Drew."

Peculiar Personality Quirk: While usually such a promising individual, he is useless when depressed. He can't focus. And when angry, he can be blinded to what's around him and just attack the first thing his mind recognizes as attackable until he can't recognize it anymore. Usually quite optimistic. Big eater who never gains weight. Instinctively devours anything that is edible (preferably instinctively known to be nutritious and tasty) and instinctively denies anything that is out of date, rotting, poisoned, or even starting to go bad without even looking at the expiration date or even the food itself. No one know how the hell he does this, but they find it impressive that he's managed to avoid contracting disease through food, food poisoning, and Mexican restaurants so adeptly. Tends to naturally home in on Italian (particularly pasta alfredo), which makes his slim figure even more astounding.

(Mostly a walking stick, which can double as practise fencing sword, looks more reliable than really is, however made from blackened mahogany, means still hurt if gave someone good wack.)

-:From Lower Middle Class back ground, where he was seemingly well raised, despite his somewhat disputable friendship with 0mni and ish <edit names, when they do> whom he use to go shooting with before left for university. He went to grammar school, got good grades and went onto Law school. He isn't most charismatic character par-say, but his charm and slick vocabulary as well as his willingness to take charge in most situations endow upon him, the natural ability to get others to do as he wishes. This mixed with his cool head allowed him to become a young politician, however his a selfish and sardonic character was only interested in self-glory and cared little for others. This lead to his downfall, as Mr Fared former relations and new office had seen him faced with several questionable offers.....offers he foolishly turned down. Following this, he was kicked out of office in a by-election, after his disgruntled enemies released false claims of fraud and less strong, but more real claims of immoral behavious regarding his somewhat repugnant private life.
=Mr Fared had grown bored of the "normal life" and started down the dark road of Red lighting, where the drink was fast, the woman were free and life was one big party, without work or morals. Problem was that, the money he had made was no where near the money, his new lifestyle demanded and so following his specular fall from grace, the real world was now catching up with him. Even following his loss of work, this disputable character still decided to fop off a very important meeting to save his professional life, in order to play a game of Poker with a local Gangster. Though he was better player, the gangster was a cheat and good cheat at that, meaning by end of night, our Mr Fared was 90,000 grand down the puge with no way to get back up the pipe.
However on the morning of day which would have been his last day on earth (as was deadline for his debts and several others wanted his head for even more nefarious reasons,) he surprisingly survived thanks a somewhat strange set of events to do with the undead raising from their graves. This meant that he was actually happy about Zombie problem as the end of world sort of removed his debt problems and had as far as he could tell, dealt with his pesky assassins as well. (The only person who fortures went up from this, well assuming he doesn't get eaten.)

Age: 35
Sex: Female
Job: Plastic Surgeon
Skills: Medical training (superiorly experienced in this), Concentration, psychological manipulation, athletics (well-trained), hand to hand combat, rifle and side-arms (basic training)
Personality: Dr. Durango is exceptionally confident and a smooth talker. For the most part she's patient, but she is an A-type personality and won't just wait around for people to make decisions. This comes from her training in the military, she could have chosen to be a carreer officer, but instead she knew her medical gifts were meant for a more financially stable world. Her confidence can easily be seen as arrogance, and she has the tendency to be superficial.
Likes: Beautiful people, socializing, working, running
Dislikes: kids, trans fats, stubborn people
Items: Lexus, credit cards, personal practice ID card, first-aid kit with emergincy difibulator unit (in trunk of car), 9mm handgun, two sets of prescription glasses.
Physical Description: Claudia is an exquisite beauty, exactly what one would expect from someone in her carreer. Tall, with short blonde hair, and a slightly sculpted face, she has her best buisness partner keep her in tip top condition. With blue eyes and a well toned body, one could almost consider her a barbie doll.
If she has any flaw its her eye sight. Even with corrective surgery, Claudia's vision is still heavily near-sighted, and she has to wear prescription lenses to deal with it. She doesn't show sensitivity towards it, but she hates that flaw with a passion, imagining she'd be perfect if not for that; despite other, more personality related flaws.
Backstory: Claudia Durango has had a relatively easy life. Born to an upper-middleclass family, Claudia was the eldest of three children. Always the responsible, intelligent older sister, Claudia joined the military when she graduated highschool to help her parents pay for college. Easily able to become an officer she did so, and while the military consistently asked for her to resign with them during the wars in the middle east, Claudia instead chose to become a plastic surgeon rather than continue her military carreer, retiring as a 1st Lieutenant.
Once she graduated from medical school, she paid off her school debt in less than two years because of her very steady and gifted hands, and has since helped her parents pay for one of her sibling's school so they could become a kindergarten teacher. Her youngest sibling she considers an grand failure, as he is in and out of rehabs regularly, and considers himself to be an artist, even if he hasn't done art in the last three years thanks to his various addictions. Still, he knows how to manipulate her, and if he needs money she can't help but give it too him.
She has spent most her adult life making other people's flaws go away while making them feel as if they need her help to do it. However her stubborn personality has made her fail on the basic levels of human intimacy, and at this point she believes she doesn't wish to have a relationship as much as she can't handle one properly.
Most of her friendships are completely superficial other than her childhood best friend, Bethany Stillwater. Bethany is a married mother of two that works as a barista. While the two could not seem more different, Bethany understands Claudia's flaws and accepts her anyway.
Claudia thinks she keeps Bethany around to make herself feel more important, when in fact she's terrified of losing her only friend. She is finally getting old enough to wonder if her success in life is truly success, seeing Bethany scraping by and yet still completely happy with her family confuses and upsets her. To make up for the deep-seeded loneliness she regularly runs in charity marathons and has at least 4 surgeries a month that are 100% pro-bono work for children with birth defects.

Physical Description: just below 6 foot tall, shoulder length thick dark brown hair, pale complexion, coupled with dark rings around his eyes due to lack of sleep. Clothing at start of game is; plain black t-shirt, thick red hoodie, unzipped and with holes cut onto the end of the sleeve, used to fit thumbs into for warmth., generic pair of jeans, and black Hi-top leather trainers.

Occupation: Newly employed as a technician in a small computer repair business (Read: Guy who does all the work without the satisfaction of ripping off customers for 80 quid an hour)

Personality:Optimistic outlook on life as a whole, although he has a habit of talking and acting in a sarcastic, manner, which does not earn him many friends. Prone to random acts of benevolence, nonetheless. Prefers to deal with problems in a non-confrontational manner, due to lack of confidence.

Backstory: Aster was, until recently, a student at Middleton Community College. After graduating, he moved into Tutorial Island on an internship, and is currently searching for a place of residence after being removed from his temporary accommodation, due to an freak incident with a fire-lamp, a pack of cards, and a large amount of incense(used to remove the new apartment smell, with horrible results). Thus homeless and in a large amount of debt, he was removed from his internship due to the company wanting to distance themselves from the incident, he accepted a low paying job going around the island repairing computers and similar electronics, however Aster enjoys this due to having an innate knack for understanding how computers/machines work, thus being able to easily repair any electrical devices. Due to the amount of time Aster spends travelling around the island, he has been as yet unable to set aside time to hunt for a place to live, and thus generally sleeps in the local park(normally makes use of the computer repair services HQ to shower and clean his clothes, utilities are taken out of his wages) , carrying around with him a backpack filled with the only items that could be salvaged from the fire. Recently, Aster has been plagued by dreams. Horribly vivid dreams. Dreams of death, and fear, and a large amount of shivering. He's not sure about the shivering. One dream details a scene from his youth, Aster was wandering around the mall with his friends when suddenly the scene changes, the mall is covered with bodies, and he has been thrown into a wall with such force that he was embedded into it. That dream is recurring, Aster sometimes wonders if it's supposed to mean something. Another dream depicts a cave, and a large pile of records, the scene shifting again, to a frozen waterfall, Aster trapped inside it. He doesn't get this dream much either, too vague for his liking. Two other dreams also haunt his subconcious, one is told from the perspective of a being filled with nothing but rage, holding a sickle in the shape of a crab claw(Aster is unsure of the events of this dream, the rage seems to keep it unfocused), The other, told through the perspective of a pirate, in the process of capturing a trade vessel.

Not one to allow such things to worry him, Aster presses on with his life, and prepares for another day at work, when he sees a darkened figure attack another citizen of the island, on closer inspection, the attacker is missing a large piece of his chest. He is clearly dead. Or at least, he should be. The attacker rises from the body of his fallen pray, noticing Aster, and slowly shambles towards him. Aster, overcome with fear, collapses to the ground. Upon realising that this is the most stupid thing he could have ever done ever, he gropes around for a rock or some other blunt object as to mount a defence against the slowly moving threat, and finds...a sickle? After taking a moment to ponder on how such a weapon appeared, Aster stood up and charged towards the most certainly undead person, aiming a slash at the creatures neck. The zombie, having slow reflexes, was unable to react well enough to this attack, and as such, could not defend against the inniment spinal cord severance. After checking the man wasn't going to get up again, Aster checked the body of the zombie's prey, and found it to be a man dressed as a druid, who had attempted to fight off zombies with a board of monopoly. �Huh. Okaaaay then weird dead druid person, thanks for the sickle, rest in peace, I guess� Aster leaves the park and walks towards the HQ, texting his boss saying he might be a little late, traffic's a bitch, ya know..

Likes: Sleep, Repairing computer, Pasta and playing video games.

Dislikes: Activities involving heavy labour, due to which, Aster has a lower than average physique.

Personality: Can be caring, patronizing, pensive.
After a relatively normal upbringing at a good school where his genius and strategic mind could flourish Insane took to trying to find a way to make money in a safe, simple way. After this failed he took many jobs in the next 3 months before realising he was only suited to strategy, which, after being surrounded by zombies, he realised would come in pretty damn useful.
Insane acts most of the time like a complete asshole, occasionally dropping his facade to reveal his true kind nature. This nature has been tested many times during his 22 years, where he has had to become fairly strong in order to earn respect and not get his ass kicked. He has a fairly strong upper body, and a strong lower body. And when that failed he took to running, which gave him great stamina, and helped himself realise that he was very quick.

Education: Honors student in High School

Personality: Caring, kind, and shy but with great ideas.
Weapon: A fan about 3ft. tall used to cool the room when it gets hot inside.

BackStory:
I'm an average student who decided to go into the honors classes to get ahead in life. I can be very lazy when it comes to certain things, including homework but I still get the job done no matter what the risk is. When it comes to sports, I am the one of the fastest runners in the tri-state area so I have great lower body strenght. Unfortunately, I don't have much of strong upper body strenght but still able to lift some heavy things. The reason that everybody calls me FanMan is that a couple years back in one of my classrooms, there was a small fan standing on the ledge. It fell of one day by accident and since I was the closest, the teacher thought it was me and decided to call me FanMan as a joke. The name stuck and now one day in class, there was a zombie attack. And in order for me to survive, I decided to grab the nearest thing and ironically it was a fan.

Sheila was a former track star in her highschool years, and then went on to community college where she majored in cosmetology and education, and spent her spare time building sets and making costumes for the local theatre group. His extraordinary skill allows him to make explosives from a wide variety of household chemicals. Because of the time spent working in a lab, his physical condition is only average. Miscellaneous other skills include cooking without utensils, operating a sailboat, deep sea fishing, repairing machinery, and that cool trick were you pull the table cloth out from under the dishes without spilling anything (the ladies love that one.)

Story: Bero had worked at the local game shop for 12 years, he knew the place inside and out. It wasn't a shock to him when the apocalypse came. He rushed over to a glass cabinet and took out the owners, who had himself been infected, replica Mithril Sword. While not a real one of course, it did do damage similar to a Sledgehammer and it looked fucking awesome! Gathering all the supplies he could find in the shop, a laptop with a spare battery, Superglue and a box of 24 Warhammer Game Boards. He managed to build a small makeshift bunker with the game boards, blending against the forest bushes and began to plan his course of action...
