Kick Ass
Has anyone else seen this, I am very selective and snobby about the films I like, but I was amazed to find myself really enjoying this film, while will not be everyones cup of tea (so to speak) felt it was original, witty and though simple underlying plot, the actual storyline was pretty cool, I think calling it Kill-bill mixed with spiderman is strangely apt
-[ also liked that they underplayed the romance ] =Though felt could have made more of his fail-heroism at times |

It hasn't been released over here yet, but I plan to see it once it does. I read the comic and found it very enjoyable. I have high hopes for this film.

Just google it. If I'm not mistaken, linking to pirated material is against the rules.

Who the hell pirates comics? Technically scanlations are considered pirating and we do post links to chapters. Quote:

Fat1Fared: you mention "romance" what was your take on the little girl being considered a sex object? over here in the US there's a lot of naysay on this topic and i'm curious. i read one article that makes mention of someone older looking at the girl (who's 13 i think?) basically saying they'd screw her if she were older (i'm paraphrasing what was actually said). i've not read the comic and only heard about it before the movie so i don't know much about the story line in that and how this particular subject plays out.

Oh the girl is not anything to do with the romance and the romance here [ is basically an average romance you find in these things, nerd mets beauty, nerds falls for beauty, beauty falls for nerd ]
-The only time the girl is ever thought of in that way, is 1 joke, where a 15 year old nerd watches her beat a load of baddies up and goes "I think I am in love" and his mate goes "She looks about 12!" (that is it, seriously I have seen far worse things than this film for moral degradation and though its not a nice film in terms of volience and maybe some will have issues there, fact is she is prof actor who agreed to this and its no where near the outrage its making) (I read a similar thing in the mail paper about how evil the use of this girl is, then that paper is basically Englands verison of Fox news) |

I saw it yesterday. It was absolutely awesome.
I find it extraordinary how papers and people have managed to speculate on the sexualisation of Hit Girl in film. They must have to look for this sort of stuff to see it, because all I saw was the murdering, swearing side to her. |

I just watched this yesterday and I was very impressed. This is probably my new favorite Action/Comedy movie. There are a few parts of the comic that I wish they included in the movie. For example:
SPOILERS ABOUT THE MOVIE AND THE COMIC [ I thought the comic handled Big Daddy's death better. In the movie, he thought his daughter just died and it would have been all his fault, but he didn't really show any emotion in the torture scene. In the comic, it was revealed that he made up the whole story about his wife dying and he only became a superhero because he wanted to give his daughter an exciting life. He was actually just a comic book nerd who did the same thing Kick-Ass did. ] Also, the movie left out one of my favorite parts: |

why the heck has a poll appeared in this thing? o_0
=Whatever, anyway, Killshot [ I agree with you there, big daddy did take the demise of his daugther rather well and think could have been handled a lot better, and also think the part of him making it up, also better, but I think that was more tactical and political choice than media based one, because look how much flak got for it as it is, now think how much would have got if the girls moral justification were fake, not saying I agree with the choice, but when ever do live action, got to do few of these things =So do you agree, needed more of him getting his ass kicked before story really started, once he became the big hit, he didn't do much of anything after that lol ] Last edited by Fat1Fared; 04-19-2010 at 08:13 AM. |

Spoilers again:
[ Yeah, I do agree that Kick-Ass needed to do a bit more before Hit girl and Big Daddy stole the show. I also thought the showdown with Red Mist was handled better than the comic. I liked the part in the comic where Kick-ass taunted the thugs into beating him out of his chair and using the chair as a weapon. The jet pack was cool, but his fight in the comic showed more character development. He actually seemed like a badass near the end of the comic, but in the movie I thought he didn't really improve at all. ] I still appreciate that the movie did things differently and liked both versions equally well. A lot of the comedy was improved by the actor's great delivery and I think the actress that played Hit girl deserves a fucking medal. Sadly, I don't think this movie will do well. The audience that I saw the movie with all seemed to love the movie, but I don't think a lot of people will give it a chance. I was also upset about Roger Ebert's negative review of the movie. I respect his opinions, but I just don't think he "got" this movie. In any case, I may end up seeing this movie a second time while its still in theaters. Its been a long time since I found a movie I liked this much. |

The movie was great, I liked it more than the comic, personally.
but the comic was a lot more of a parody of superhero comics, and the movie just took hit girl's badassness and ran with it. |

I am a huge comic reader and have an extensive review of this movie on another forum, but I though it was pure delight. I thought most of the changes from the comic book worked for the movie, but the one change I didn't personally like was the fact that he got the girl. In the comic when he tells her that he's not gay, she curses him out and he eventually gets some explicit photos of her with another guy which he cries and then pleasures himself to. I found this funnier, but since it was a movie and they were trying to cater to a wide array of people, I understand going the other way

The people who are getting angry at this film for showing how ridiculous the Real Life Superhero trend is..... it fills my tummy with lulz.
