Fangirls stereotype gays all the time in fanfic. That's why I like the idea of characters like Honda being gay in FF. He's not what you'd expect, but that's exactly like real life. The obvious isn't always the gayest... or even gay at all. :P

Of course they do and it is bad and leads to ignorance but what can you do? Oh ya, educate properly. I don't think that would stop fangirls though.

I love gay Honda as long as he is still Honda. Actually I can say that for 90% of the YGO males except the ones whose hand is probably their only partner and even then rarely.

I have no problem with the age difference in Polarshipping, and I do think it's a cute pairing, but that's just me. 'Canon' shippings, however, are usually much easier to write than crack shippings, in my opinion-- imagine trying to write a realistic MalikxInsector Haga fic, it'd be nearly impossible. Some authors like to write the canon relationships, some like to ship characters together based on their motives, personality, status, etc, and some like to write complete crack to see if they can pull it off well.

The fact that people don't ship the 'canon' relationships may also be due to the fact that quite a bit of the fanbase is made up of rabid yaoi-fangirls who hate het couples for no adequetly explored reason.

thats a good point. I have noticed that too. hardly anybody seems to like the shippings that are actually offered on the show maybe it's just more fun to make up your own and create them because it seems original.

I know and not just this fandom too. An example I can think of right know is Phoenix and Maya from Phoenix Wright. I can't find many pictures of them together and I remember looking through fanfics for Phoenix Wright and one summary said not to get mad at her for pairing Phoenix and Maya together.

Polarshipping is actually one of my OTP but I have difficulty finding fics that keep my interest. I like crack because it is fun. I'll read almost any shipping as long as it is well written. Canon or crack.

I don't loathe Anzu X Yugi and will read it. I just prefer Yugi with guys and say he is bisexual. (because fangirls seem to forget that exists in sexuality)

People hating canon is nothing new. I remember being in the HP fandom way back when and people would get pissed if you even mentioned Ginny/Harry. It is just part of being in a fandom.

yeah, i noticed this too. although i think the whole harry/ginny thing is incidental, since a lot of fangirls didn't like ginny for DFMS reasons. (given that she just sort of "appeared" in book 5 while being virtually nonexistant during the previous books.)

i like both canon and crack, it just depends on the pairing. for some reason the best fics i've read have been cracky, most likely because writing believable crack requires more extensive thought and characterization (whereas when you write canon, you depend a lot on the show's pre-existing characterization of the relationship). just my two cents. :3

I prefer to think that Yami is and Yami Bakura is too. (bisexual is awesome because they love a person based on their soul, not their gender.)
