You could just ink it using tracing paper, so the original would be unharmed. And color the inked version on the tracing paper.

Scan it... bring it up in a photo editing program that can use Layers... make a new layer, and use that to colour onto on the computer... same basic principle as tracing paper, except... on the computer...

 And then today I coloured it in on a whim. It's patchy, because I don't have Paintshop or anything like that, and so I had to use the spray can Paint tool. It took hours. And now I'm tired. <img src='/images/emoticons/smiley3.png'>
